Mr Clarkson didn’t seem to care what he said if he didn’t like a car. I know he didn’t go on press launches but only a few manufacturers got the hump and refused to provide test cars. Manufacturers should welcome feedback both positive and negative. I’m pretty sure they listened to feedback in some surveys I have completed over the years (more comfortable seats, substantial hand guards, better wind protection). They seem to have made a conscious decision on the direction of the Multi on the basis of feedback, research and market forces. It might not be the bike you wanted but it’s a bike they believe they can sell. Until I test ride one I can’t make a sensible comparison with my previous Multistrada’s. Roll on Spring!
I think that a lot of opinions on this new bike have been set in stone, before anyone even has even had a chance to have a test ride on our glorious UK roads, for me I wanted a bike that would do it all and fulfil all my expectations, The main reason for me having a bike is touring, whether it is in the Uk or Europe, every time I have been on a tour I have encountered non-perfect roads, thanks to Garmin, but I have enjoyed every minute of it, so for me, the new Multi looks like it would fulfil all my expectations, so I have ordered one, would it not be better to be more positive about this new bike and let's see what real rider reviews are on it, I love this forum but feel there are a few negative people on it, everything thing moves forward and I believe everyone is entitled to there opinion on it, but let's wait and see!!
From a ride perspective - you are 100% correct.. But that will not change the fact 1. Its Bitsa look - no flow - Like a Picasso Abstract. 2. Engine is different colours on LHS and RHS 3. Its a twin Spar Rear Swing Arm. So for that 3 things alone - for me - right now - its a NO... no matter how good it rides. If you are fine with the looks - then I am sure you will be happy with the bike.
I'm not the one being silly with an absurd scenario here. The shoot-out shouldn’t be exclusively track, but it should be a component of the comparison as track is the ultimate handling test bench. Moreover, it's been done often. Here's one of those looking at the 1200DVT when first launched around 2015~16. In this comparo the BMW had the edge overall albeit only marginally, objectively but not necessary subjectively. Too bad it wasn’t against the much improved 1260 with its better fuelling and power. The track component starts at 3:23/10:50 but the whole video is entertaining and informative with an excellent methodology. You have to come to terms with the fact that many here have purchased a Multistrada as a comfortable superbike which Ducati no longer offers.
Taking journalists and peoples opinions aside non us can have an objective view until we have ridden one (V4 Multistrada) its that simple. Its not and was never intended to be a track bike.
The motorcycle world will probably change dramatically over the next ten years. Extreme sports motorcycles will be for the weathliest only I suspect.
I have the 1260 enduro, for the higher riding position and larger touring boxes. Will there be a V4 enduro?
The 1260 Enduro is still being offered in the Multistrada range so I’d imagine not for at least another year or two depending on when the V4 is updated. The Enduro has not been the most successful selling variant in the Multistrada range so I wouldn’t hold your breath but “never say never”. Andy
I think the Enduro is stil listed to clear out stock still in the system. They can no longer manufacture them as they are not Euro 5 compliant.
Not sure what you mean. Are you saying the V4 now on sale is the enduro version? If so is it a similar riding height to the 1260 enduro and can you get the enduro luggage? And will there be a V4 non enduro version?
The Current 1260 Enduro - is still on sale clearing the old stock of them. The New V4 Multistrada is both the Enduro and Street bike combined in one machine....
Not followed the thread in detail but this sounds like the problem. You can't convert a sport to an enduro by adding bars, a bash plate and some more lights.
They have sort of made this New bike a hybrid It is 19" Front Wheel, Twin Spar Swing Arm, Increased Ground Clearance. Possible to spec with Alloy or Wire Wheel to make it the Road or Enduro Version - then with various accessories..
