Hi guys. I'm looking for reservoir brackets that are a bit shorter than the stock ones on my 848. I have some clipon risers that are causing the reservoir to hit the fairing. Ideally I would like something that is clean, simple, and OEM looking. Perhaps brackets from other Ducati models would work?
Use an expanding collet similar to that found on bar ends, lever guards etc, but insert it on the inner end of the clip on. This will bring the reservoir much closer to the centre of the yoke and away from catching the fairings. You will still need to make a small ally bracket to set the reservoir height/angle correctly.
Thanks guys. I really appreciate the responses. I would love to make custom brackets but frankly I know I do not have the skills to make anything that looks remotely decent. One thought, I see that the Monster 1100 EVO has brackets that appear to place the reservoirs much lower to the triple clamp. I wonder if I can use these?
I think that pic is a trompe l’oeil. I have an M1100 and the reservoirs are not mounted very low. I will check next time I am in the garage as the M1100 is parked next to the 1098.
Thank you! When I look at the parts drawing for the 1100 Evo reservoir brackets it does look shorter than what I have on the 848. The 1100 one seems to bend at a 90 degree angle to the reservoir instead of at an upward sloping angle.
Here’s a couple of ideas... The first set I just drilled and taped the top yoke. After fitting the mag yokes I thought it better not to touch them and did what Glen suggested and fitted them into the bar of the clip on.
Just to close the loop on this topic, I ended up buying the clutch reservoir bracket from a Monster 1100 Evo. It is definitely shorter than the stock 848 bracket by about 18mm. What I really like about the Monster bracket is that it keeps the reservoir to the side of the dash and from obstructing my view. The Monster bracket is not entirely plug and play though. First, because it is meant for flatter handlebars, I had to bend it a bit to make the reservoir level. Secondly, the bracket just barely touches the stock clipons. This can be fixed by placing a washer underneath the bracket where it mounts with the master cylinder. I have Speedymoto clipons and this is not an issue. Here are some pics comparing the Monster bracket and the stock one.
