Dovi Finally Speaks Out About Leaving Ducati

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by El Toro, Jan 11, 2021.

  1. Ducati have famously been dicks to their riders. It's a real shame. Dovi is the best rider they've had for come considerable time!

  2. Marriages always end up in tears if you don't listen to reason.

  3. Wise words indeed.

  4. Interesting, reminds me of something.

“Tattaglia's a pimp. He never could've out-fought Santino. But I didn't know until this day that it was Barzini all along”.

  5. Ferrari always famously had the attitude that the driver was lucky to be in the 'best car on the planet' and rarely listened to the pilots criticisms. Lauda spoke pretty openly about this. Ducati seem pretty similar. Maybe it's an italian thing?

Even recently if you look at Lorenzo who went to them and did absolutely nothing. He desperately asked for a tank extension (which is such a small detail) and they wouldn't give it to him until the last knockings really. Then once they did he won... a lot.
Does not matter if it's the best bike on the planet if the thing isn't working with the rider it'll be nowhere !

  6. I would absolutely love to see Marquez on a red bike. Not because it's a ducati but because I think of all the current crop of riders he strikes me as having a style that 'may' work on it.

I also think it would be a fascinating spectacle in terms of team dynamic.... Would they actually listen to him? they didn't listen to Rossi or Lorenzo both of which are GOATS of their generations...

  7. Had to look that up and no surprise I didn’t recognise it, a film I have never watched. Andy

  8. Godfather?

  9. Someone told me a little story about the late great John Surtees driving all the way to italy from the Uk as there was huge problems with Enzo, that's some anger management course but clearly worked as he quit the team.

  10. That sounds pretty plausible mate to be honest. Old man Enzo was pretty well known for his 'ways'.

Saying that Surtees himself could be a difficult chap

  11. Yeah it's their way or the highway same as Michael Dunlop.

  12. Yup. Andy

  13. Yeah, The Godfather. Well done.

Android, why on earth haven’t you watched that great film?

So it was Gigi all along. Clearly they don’t want to listen to what the riders have to say.
    It explains a lot...unfortunately.

  14. Simply just not a fan of the genre. Andy

  15. Ducati clearly deserves its' engineering prowess. Better rider decisions (Marquez, Lorenzo & Dovi) could have yielded profoundly different championship outcomes.

  16. All hail the Goat!!

  17. But if those engineers had listened to what the riders were asking for maybe the result could have been better for Ducati.

Lorenzo was a case in point as mentioned in a previous post above. A little cheap mod to the tank and blam! Two consecutive GP wins. ...... something tells me there might have been other mods too.

  18. Reminds me a bit of the Multistrada rear brake. We all who have suffered, know it’s a complete & utter engineered failure. But Ducat don’t listen to the perps that bought them.

  19. I watched all 3 Godfather films over Xmas ;)
