  2. I have one of the Rukka goretex shell jackets. Fantastic bit of kit and very versatile with the vents.
Being tight, I paid around £600, reduced from around £950. Had it three years and it is my go to bit of kit regardless of weather.
I assume it was discounted due to being replaced by a newer version..either way highly recommended. Just not at crazy money ;)

  3. Hopefully it will mean that there will be some Nivala kit available at a discount. I still have their first generation laminated Gortex trousers which I’m sure have shrunk over time which isn’t covered by the 6 year guarantee ;) Andy

  6. Rukka is good, but it's not as good as Stadler.

  7. These shops must have a lot of margin, back in November at Sportbikeshop the Klim Kodiak jacket was £1070 size M in blue, however J&S had size M (one item left) for £780. So Sportbikeshop matched the price. WTF?
They also chopped £200 off the trousers.
You have to be patient and shop around for deals.
Rukka is very good, however I believe some Klim have better(more) ventilation for summer use. For example 10 vents on the Kodiak

  9. Agree totally, I'd never use anyone else if in the market for motorcycle clothing. Unbeatable service and quality and literally decades of experience.

  10. You need to look at Stadler (who can also do custom).

  11. Motolegends will price match any UK retailer and then, I believe, lop off another 10%.

They even did this for me retrospectively when I bought a Klim jacket mail-order last year and then spotted it in my local Helmet City for less. ML refunded cash to my debit card after I sent them a phone pic of the label.

  12. Strangly fc-moto has this kit called Shield-R (eu name version) for £1,700 both jacket & trouser. Will have to give motolegends a call at somepoint too discuss.

  13. I know the 6 year warranty for Rukka was only if kit bought in uk. As told to me by a rep a few years ago. Presume it’s still the case?

  14. my mate was one of the reps for the Importer, they are putting there own top up warranty on top of the manufacturer, but only for UK bought stuff.

Prices are soon going up on bike kit, the sellers are trying to swallow it at the moment but I’m hearing that for kit that originates outside Europe (manufacture base) then comes to UK through Europe it’s going to need duty adding, they seem to think the duty and the admin overheads will be around 20%. I don’t want to start a Brexit debate, people’s views are very clear, I’m literally staying the fact. I was told that Rukka should be okay for the moment, although they can occasionally have form for a cheeky price bump.

It’s amazing kit though, truly. I borrowed his jacket which never got sold in the uk, it was a laminate product which would have retailed at £1400 and was incredible in the wet, it had TINY pockets, which he tells me is being Rukka hate putting pockets in their jackets, the don’t like the idea of people filling their waste area with phones and keys etc

  15. Be careful with FC moto.
I bought a Rukka jacket from them and when I complained that the liner (part of the Jacket and as advertised..) had not arrived with the jacket, their only option was to return the jacket. .and could I choose another? No! Luckily there was time in hand to order from another supplier and take delivery before a big Europe trip.

  16. This was the Facebook post from Motolegends last week which also addressed buying from FC Moto now we have left the EU.

The suit that Rukka made for the British Police

For us, Rukka is largely about the Nivala suit these days. It’s the most comfortable, Gore-Tex 3-layer Pro Shell suit on the market; and by a country mile. But because of the route by which it received its original CE certification it simply could not be considered for government tenders. Certain Police forces asked Rukka, therefore, to create a suit that would be accredited to at least the EN17092 AA level; and so the Kingsley was born. Because it does not contain elastic in the outer fabric, it will not be as comfortable as the Nivala, but it does have a few other tricks up its sleeves. With panels of highly abrasion-resistant Keprotec in all the key areas, the Kingsley is almost certainly more protective than the Nivala. It is also better vented than any Rukka that has ever gone before. And with both Down-X and Outlast liners it is going to be the most insulating too. Obviously, it’s got all the other stuff that you would expect to find on a top-end Rukka outfit. If you want to wear Rukka, and you want the most protective suit the Finnish company makes, then the Kingsley may be the one for you.

Now the observant amongst you may notice that, in Europe, the Kingsley is called the Shield-R. And you may see that it’s cheaper on the continent than the Kingsley is over here. But there are a couple of things you should know. Only the UK version comes with Down-X top and bottom liners. Now, if you were to buy the Shield-R in Europe, you will pay duty at 12% and then VAT at 20% on the value of the suit and duty combined, when it arrives on your doorstep. We calculate that importing the Shield-R suit with a set of Rukka’s down liners from FC Moto you will end up paying £165 more than you would for the Kingsley.

There’s another minor issue. If you want to send your suit back because it doesn’t fit or because you don't like it, you won’t get back the duty and VAT. Just a thought!
