Is it just me , or is this forum becoming as dull as dishwater ? .... maybe it's the times , or maybe it's the El Conejo effect .... who knows ? Anyway , there are some fabulous female bassists around , and they have incredibly high standards to reach for ... Jaco , James Jamerson , Stanley Clarke , Ron Carter , Bootsie , Anthony Jackson ... .... I could go on all day . But where are they all coming from ? It's as if there's a genetic engineering lab somewhere , just churning them out .... Anyway , let's hear it for the girls .... so just for starters Rhonda Smith Tal Wilkenfeld Kinga Glyk Sara Lee I'll try to kick things off , with Jeff Beck and co , playing a Stevie Wonder song -
is it all about visually stunning/current at the same time though? Carol Kaye takes a lot of beating plus down to earth/salt of the earth person also:-
Ooh you sneaky bugger you ! I was going to include Carol Kaye in my list , but I thought it was too long ago for anyone to remember . She played on thousands of classic sessions , including for The Beach Boys and JJ Cale , if I remember right .
No disrespect to Tina ( I'm a big Talking Heads fan ) but I would describe her as " capable " ..... certainly not on the virtuoso list Bingo ! That's what I'm talking about , and she has definitely got it ....
I like these ones, and all others like them One of them has a bass right? Doesn't matter, the key board girl has everything I'd need
@oldtech - Coincidentally my first sight/sound of Tal Wilkenfeld was yesterday! With this nicely-quirky tune...
