Marc Marqez Not Returning Until 2021

Discussion in 'Racing & Bike Sport' started by Android853sp, Nov 10, 2020.

  1. I have just seen in the motorcycle racing social media that MM has made the decision to not race in the last 2 races of the season. Andy

  2. It'd be a bit pointless really. Best he gets completely fit then comes back rejuvenated next season.

  3. Not surprising, but when you look how the rider's are normally desperate to race I do wonder what, and how much to read into this.

On the one hand, this season is lost, your race seat is safe, so take the time to heal properly, and focus on next season.

On the other, worth getting your eye in with a couple of races, maybe give the competition [who have spent all season trying not to win the championship] something to think about over the winter. And just race for the hell of it, if that's your passion, and you have the ability, surely you'd want another fix?

  4. ^^^^^^^^Nope i think he's doing the right thing...........and then punch them on the nose in the first round.:upyeah:

  5. Be interesting to see how he regains his match fitness given the limited testing allowed next year and the punishments handed out for riding 'modified' road bikes on track. Andy

  6. Two pieces of information in the brief article that intrigues me. Clearly given up on that crass story about opening a door causing the damage with the statement about ‘accumulated stress’ and it must be some serious infection that requires antibiotics for months. Hopefully he will make a full recovery but it seems he’s a very lucky boy. Andy

  7. There is an article on the MotoGP website which comes to a similar conclusion although it says he will probably miss the first 2 rounds. Not being supremely fit like a MotoGP rider, I cannot even begin to guess how long MM is going to need to regain the fitness months of forced inaction he will have lost. Andy

  8. And I wonder how will it have affected him mentally?

  9. Well that’s a point but I also wonder if Dovi will be riding a Honda for the first two rounds.

  11. One things for sure he won't have lost his killer instinct, that's in his D&A for life,he might just go about his business in a more mature way that's all.

  12. Knowing that another break in that area could render him unable to ride again ,must ,if even in a small way ,be at the back of your mind ,but maybe not , look at Mick Dohan riding when his bones had not fused together so he ended up having a bend in his lower leg o_O

  13. i honestly think it won’t have affected him mentally. He crashed in moto2 so hard he damaged his optic nerve and could only see half his field of vision with no guaranteed return to full sight. And he’s won multiple championships since then. The kids another level
