New Tuono V4 1100

Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by Poucher, Jan 23, 2021.

  1. Pictures released so far look pretty good , this top one is official colours
Like the look of it, new fairing, lcd cornering lights, and new colour tft dash will make it a nice bike,...not too keen on the red seat mind?

However,..this black version looks utterly mega!
I think it’s a photoshop job, unfortunately, ....the black frame looks great and the whole bike looks totally mean and purposeful...pity this colour scheme probably won’t happen,..I’d have one in a flash if it did !

  2. Do you not think the fairing is a tad low at the front?

  3. Not as low as some, and not as low as the 660 Tuono I think?

  4. The black version looks like Suzuki gsx1000.
Like the other one but tbh prefer the exising factory version. So much so that if mpg was not sh1t, I would have bought one instead of the 1200r.

  5. The black looks amazing. I think the silver swingarm etc just looks a bit ‘industrial’

  6. They are not that bad on fuel. No worse than my Panigale. I did the NC500 on mine last year and at one point saw 119 miles between fill ups.

Going back to the look of the new Tuono I have to say I'm slightly disappointed, I feel its lost some of that aggressive look. It's that front end that didn't do it for me.
I'll reserve final judgement till I see love in the flesh.

  7. C921BAC0-0E12-453E-A3F8-1C4E7CEB52FA.png Aprilia’s strategy just baffles me. They’ve done it again, selling off bikes at £5k under RRP from a couple of their dealer network rich enough to buy them upfront. You would have to be totally insane to go buy a new V4 1100 at retail in April/May because they will keep doing this, and keep wrecking their brand.

a Ducati V4 may or may not be worth £25k, it’s your personal view, the constant is that if you want one, you broadly speaking pay what the RRP is or at least get similar discount across their dealers, it keeps pricing stable, protects PCP balloons, protects used prices.

Aprilia will just never learn, they are fixated on short term balance sheets and they have trapped themselves and IMO will go bust, the Rs660 is supposed to be their return to mainstream but it they do this at the end of the year and dealers are knocking them out at say £8k it’s going to be the last nail in the coffin

  8. Beggars belief really doesn’t it?
£5 grand difference between last year’s model and the new one, why?....you’d have to be nuts to pay full price for the new one really wouldn’t you?
You could probably get more off that with a bit of haggling as well!

I honestly think the totally gash paint job on the 2020 bike has something to do with it, ...utterly dull and drab, certainly would put me off buying it.

KTM do the same, ..sell you a bike full price one month,..next month it’s got 3 grand off, really pisses people off who’ve just bought one.

I really like the RSV4 / Tuono’s , but I bought an RSV 1000 r in 2002 and out of all the bikes I’ve had, it deprecated the most,..by a long way.

  9. I should have said, they’ve done it for about the last 4 years, normally wheels in Peterborough buys like 40 of them, and all the other dealers are pissed off. My friend was a rep for Piaggio and he said it was embarrassing. They also had some funny practises where they would launch a new model year then 3 months in they would offer free exhaust etc and dealers were just getting abuse. On top of that they HAD to take stock of all models to sell say a Tuono, or a RSV4 they had to have a load of piaggio scooters.

hand on heart it’s the ONLY reason I didn’t buy one in 2018, I wanted to buy from my local dealer, he wasn’t holding stock so it was RRP and wheels were selling at £4k off. He told me if I go to them to buy it then I would be bottom of the queue for any warranty stuff because it’s not their interest to look after people who aren’t buying anything, it’s harsh but tbh I saw his frustration

  10. My neighbour, Dan from across the road, bought a brand new 2019 model RSV4R Factory last April from M&P in Swansea for £15.5k (might have been £15k, I can’t remember), delivered to Yorkshire. The rrp for the 2020 model was £23k I think, so he got a great discount. And the difference between the two models was the colour/graphics I think.

  11. They’re massacring their brand. Consumers cotton on real quick that if they hold on 3 months the price will be slashed. They ( or we should I say) also realise the resale will be rubbish.

Glad to see Ducati are too smart for that.

  12. exactly, anyone who spends a min researching what they are buying will smell the rat. And on top of this, finance companies are going to whack up the finance rates to try and protect their interests. It’s genuinely the end of the road for them I think

  13. He came out on top there, paint/ graphics on 2019 factory was by far the best in recent years imo.
Poucher has valid point, re: 2020 colours and poor sales.
Whoever makes the call on colours for Aprilia needs to be bitch slapped around Mugello.

  14. Still my favorate color. ape.jpg
