  1. I hope I’m wrong but it’s beginning to look like MM’s injury is career ending. His arm is never going to be 100% and further injury will be inevitable due to his find the limit by crashing style of riding.
    What does everyone think ?

  2. I don't like to see any rider in any class dominating the class, even though he may be a superman, Doohan etc, I am not a keen MM fan, so I prefer to see different riders win, like this year, I was very happy with the season just gone, good racing and no predictability.

  3. I hope he makes a full recovery.
All of the greats pushed the limits. Simo would have been one of them if not for bad fortune. MM has had a lot of luck with his previous crashes. Not this time. It is highly likely he can find a way to ride around any problems as he has talent to spare.

  4. MM will win anyway. He may change his style -he may have to- but he has the drive & the skill.

  5. Ask yourself, you have had an injury that realistically could have been and could still be career limiting. Your style is to push the bike beyond the limit to find the limit. Most times, the crash is pretty innocuous and you usually walk away. How many more innocuous crashes can your shoulder/arm withstand before it is the end of your career and a debilitating life long injury ? Am I going to commit 100% on a bike that is notoriously challenging to ride ? MM has been a driven man, driven to succeed it would seem at any cost but I think the price this time might be too much, even for him. Only time will tell and only after he actually rides under race conditions. I’ll happily put my hands up if my feeling is wrong but I think this could be his last season as a rider. Andy

  6. He can't hang the leathers up just yet as he's got one more championship to go for matching Valentino's nine titles, and let's face it,he'd want 10 in total.

  7. Controversial, but we have had the most exciting MotoGP season for decades.....mostly without him.

Another one of those please chaps.

  8. In the world of sport there is maybe nothing as sad as being forced to retire from your chosen sport long before you want to.
After taking and putting in many years of dedication, blood, sweat and tears to reach your pinnacle in any chosen sport it is a very very cruel outcome for any athlete or sports star to be forced to retire through injury. Hopefully Marquez will return and give the watching world another display of the awesome talent the kid has.
Saying that didn’t poor old James Toseland have to admit defeat when he was injured and tried to make a comeback and later said he was putting himself and his competitors in danger by doing so as his was trying to make his elbow do the job of his injured wrist which obviously didn’t work and was forced to retire because of it.
So fingers crossed for the lad Marquez.

  10. Yes. And he will probably ride as hard, or 99% as hard, as before.

  11. I never really liked him as a rider. He was more than good enough to win multiple championships but it never stopped him from riding dirty and trying to punt the lead rider off at the last corner

  12. I don’t agree with this POV. He always saw it as racing, old school many would say, but always racing in his mind & when it was done to him as others occasionally did (Pedrosa?) he never bitched about it. Let’s not forget that Sir Valentino was no saint at first! The guys an absolute genius on two wheels, capable of winning any race from any start position. Very few others have ever had that ability & although I’d agree last season was epic without him, I don’t want to see the last of him just yet.

  13. I don't particularly rate Rossi and I am not asking anyone to agree with me. Everyone can have their own opinion.

But no rider has attempted more last lap punt offs than Marquez. He did it to Rossi, Lorenzo, and others. He tried it numerous times with Dovi, but by then he had the measure of him. The last lap punt was that predictable that commentators would predict it. Trying something on the limit is fine, using your opponent as your brake and pushing them off track deliberately is not sport. Marquez referenced Rossi doing it to Gibernau, but that's the only time I can think of him doing that, and I am not a Rossi fan. I wish I could think of more. Rossi's pass on Stoner on the corkscrew at Laguna or where his ambition outweighed his talent in the rain, were nothing like what Marquez tries.

Marquez is unquestionably the most talented rider on the grid which makes it all the more surprising that he feels the need to ride like that.

  14. I’ve really missed Márquez racing , hasn’t been the same without him no other rider can make things happen like Márquez did , nobody else had a sniff when he was racing

  15. I'm not a massive marquez fan but find it strange that people talk about his aggressive riding, yet worship people like simoncelli, who was probably more aggressive. I was a big simoncelli fan but can't deny how aggressive he was. Rossi was no angel either

  16. I have sympathy for the view he is too reckless and dangerous and shows zero respect for any other rider.

He is truly talented and has been a catalyst to change for how these bikes re ridden, as many greats before him have.

At first I loved his aggressiveness, always taking a risk for that lunge. But he simply has no ‘consequence’ switch. He can race from any position because he absolutely doesn’t care if he runs over someone.

  17. No idea tbh

there’s many old and there’s many bold. But not many old and bold.....

  18. @749er you said “I don't particularly rate Rossi and I am not asking anyone to agree with me. Everyone can have their own opinion.”
Of course & yours is as valid as mine, I just don’t agree with it.
I’m not sure what you’d like to see if you don’t rate Rossi & you don’t like the way MM rides, these are the stand out riders of this generation, but each to their own.

  19. There aren't many riders I would pay to watch race on their own , Stoner and Marquez would be the exception. Their skill levels are sublime and at times jaw dropping. As for last season being close and exciting, personally I found it lacking excitement and the racing was at best mediocre when you closely look at the races. No Dovi / MM type close finishes ? Even Austria was because Miller/Pol couldn't keep it on the track! Whoever got the setup/tyre choice right on the day cleared off but this time had no MM to challenge them. Not to diss Mir but rolling around in 6th to win the WC after 1 win is exciting ?? None of them were good enough to grab the title by throat and make it theirs by winning races consistantly. So called fans always need a pantomime villain but like him or loathe him MM is the best out there and the benchmark as to how the other riders are measured and they know it. The other riders need to be pushed to their best in every race not in the odd one. So in my opinion that's why MM is needed back and fingers crossed I hope its sooner rather than later.
