Tail Tidies, Crash Protection etc

  1. Im looking for options on the above. Have done a little searching on interent but seems there is very little available in the UK for this bike. Are parts compatible from other model Duc's?

    Thanks

  2. I put the Ducati Performace tail tidy on my bike. It's not the cheapest but I liked the idea of the original part. The wiring between the seat unit and tail tidy was a pain to fit in the available space, but I managed eventually. It uses the standard indicators and comes with it's own LED tail light. It looks the part when fitted I think.

I have no crash protection though.

  3. Thanks for the quicks reply. Can you remember what it cost and does ducati have an online shop?

Had R&G tidy for my last bike and it only cost £20, seems there might be a Ducati tax.

  4. Fitted the R&G bobbins on mine. There handy on long trips too. You can hang your legs over them, Harley style.

  5. The list price is about £150. I got it new on eBay for £100 I think. I saw one on there last week, new and it went for £50.

  6. Perfect, thanks.

Do you know if any other model tail tidies would fit or is the tail on the streetfighter different fitment from the rest

  7. EvoTech do a nice tail tidy for about £95. Speedymoto do a decent range of sliders for the frame and axles.

  8. On my last bike I had a show plate which was 9" x 3" approx. Basically same shape as a car plate but a lot smaller. Haven't seen a SF with one like this yet.

Anyway, it looks to me as if most tidies are shaped to take the standard 'square' plate - albeit smaller show versions - but I'm not sure if it would suit what I'm after.

I have emailed R&G for dimensions and still await a response.

Anyone else running a rectangle 'car' plate?

  9. Have seen those on SF's - OK if your under 30 I guess

  10. Sweet, well I qualify for that at least.

  11. How much searching had you done or is it that you don't like R&G?

all the crash protection & tail tidys you want are either here:

    here

    http://www.rg-racing.com/browseBike/Ducati/848_Streetfighter/2012.aspx

    here

    2009 - Streetfighter 1098 - Ducati - Motorcycle parts

Or here - eBay - one of the UK's largest shopping destinations

most 1098sf stuff will fit the 848 but do double check and obviously open clutch covers should be used on the 1098 only.

rizoma, lightech etc etc if you want to keep it bling and Italian .

check out Moorespeed and/or caprimoto (use the bike search function)

for the best history of posts on the SF I'd recommend checking out Ducati MS forum as they're SF section is big and has been for some years so everything has been covered and is easy to search. Not that this forum isn't great you understand but its simply not been running when the SF was launched so doesn't have that back log of threads

i honestly wouldn't bother with any other tail tidy than an Evotech one IMO. Just got one (again) for my new bike and they're really well made, well sized and thought out. I don't run a plate anywhere near as big / wide as yours (7x5) and they fit fine.

for reference a standard motorbike rear plate UK is 9" wide anyway so they will fit fine too, its only the depth I'm not sure about but to be honest running a 3" deep plate is an easy pull for a copper as the shape isn't the same as standard so it stands out a mile.

give Evotech a call, they're a good bunch of lads and do quality kit.
