Have one fitted and if it’s in the house or a secure area get the spanner’s out and by-pass it for a few months of the year You’ll see the saving immediately!
Paying for what you use is good, but I do regular checks on my water meter after a mate got a £4000 bill due to 2 leaks between the meter on the roadside and his house.
They called yesterday and are coming to survey and hopefully fit the meter next week, fairly impressed with the speed of that under the current circumstances.
Just think with all the money it’s going to save you, you’ll be able to buy more bike bits. It’s a win win situation.
spent a short while fitting water meters a number of years ago long and short of it single person in a property will save on water bill as usage likely to be less than estimated family in a property will not benefit from a water meter when you consider the amount used for kids baths toilet flushes and washing kids clothes etc upshot single person ---good family ---- not good
Severn Trent insisted that my sister had a meter fitted when they built their house, she has a swimming pool
A climbing partner from my youth had a water meter, he used such a frugal amount ST dug 2 up to check he wasn’t fiddling them. He’d take his washing round his Mom’s shower round there too and would only flush his toilet for number 2’s. One of the tightest blokes I’ve ever met and yes I know a few Yorkshire and Scots folk.....
I live in Cornwall the place in England with the highest water rates/cost. It's cheaper for me to pay a yearly fixed sum/rates rather than have a meter, as I've got a 4 adult household with a constantly running washing machine and one bathroom and another with a shower. Steve R
