Rugby Bores - Six Nations Thread - Avoid If Not Keen On Egg-chasing

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by efcbluepete, Feb 1, 2016.

  1. It’s the « relying on older experienced players » thing that get me. You see a lot of this going on at the moment with the English, Welsh and Irish teams. Great players age as well and at some point, experience is not enough anymore. And this « privileged access » to specific positions in the squad suffocates the younger generations, denying them access to international level experience. And then, comed a rather long period with zero solutions to remplace the veterans. And that hurts... France made that mistake during the last decade, and we know how that ended.

Typical examples, today, are Sexton, Farrell, Alun-Win Jones, Biggar. It’s like their teams cannot replace them. Like they are « stuck » with them, when moving on seems the right thing to do.

Today’s game will hopefully generate a lot of hope for the younger folks waiting for their turn after Sexton.

    May the best team win!

  2. Great try by the French.

  3. Nobody said anything about a plan B did they.: unamused:

  4. A good contest between the two sides but France keeping the scoreboard ticking over nicely, which is the name of the game.

  5. Best match so far, for me.

  6. Holy smoke that was close! A win in Dublin is really something special.

See? Ireland can play without Sexton being on the field. You can tell he will probably be coaching that team in the near future. That would be a great transition for a player of his caliber.

  7. Looks like the France v Scotland game might be off this weekend. 10 French players have tested positive for Corona virus. Andy

  8. Oh dear. That’s the only way Scotland would have won too.

  10. In principle i'd agree with you but on this occasion perhaps not as the Scots have a cracking good attacking game & eighty minutes is eighty minutes when anything can happen.

  11. What no extra time like in Soccer?

  12. I sure if push comes to shove the players could carry their balls for another 30 if required.;)

  13. The clock gets stopped during play rather than having extra added on at the end. In Rugby Unin teh game ends when the ball next goes dead after the 80 minutes is up, in League it's over on the whistle

  14. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Jack, an educated guess........Covid-19 free.:upyeah:

  15. Just read an article which claims the reason for continuing with the game, despite 10 French players, the French coach and 3 French back room staff testing positive for COVID, is according to World Rugby player release regulations, Scotland would have to release 10 players back to their clubs in England and France if the match was postponed. Beggars belief. Andy

  16. Decision makers in all walks of life, who the hell would want those jobs when your hands are tied behind your back with bullshit and no commonsense again.

  17. Training suspended as entire French team go in to self isolation following yet another player testing positive for COVID on Wednesday. Way forward for the match against Scotland being discussed by tournament organisers today. Andy
