Frame Number Concern

  1. Hi I have just puchased a 97 plate 916 with a frame number in the low 800s does this seem right? It matches the v5. Looks like it was sold to Brookland motors in France 1 Aug 97. Then imported to UK by baines racing on 29th Aug 97. Frame number matches in service book . Engine number is 6770 this seems high There seems miss match? Possibly new engine

  2. FWIW,

My 1996 916 has a frame number below 700 and engine #6703. Confirmed match by Ducati. Came out of factory early March 1996.

    E-mail them at [email protected]
    with pics of:
    - frame number
    - engine number
    - front, rear, LH & RH side of bike
    - title in your name
    - ID card in your name

And a lady named Carlotta from Bologna should answer with your bike history details fairly promptly. Worked really well for both my SBK.

  5. Right, keep us posted about your findings! :upyeah:

  6. Yes on the surface that does seem a huge difference in the numbers as mine is in the 300's for the frame & the 400's for the powerplant.
