V4 Pcp Equity?

  1. Mines ex demo, but had 200 miles on the clock. Got it after lockdown. Was just sat there for months cause no one could ride it. I then took it to Snetterton to run it in :joy:

  2. haha, that's the way to do it! Mine got a nice gentle 30 mile run in period en route to the track from the dealer. And then spent three days getting its balloon knot pummelled at Donny

    Oil was always hot. Very few cold starts. Changed the oil after day two. Engine was free revving and not laboured. I never sat at the same revs for long or banged it in to the limiter. Used loads of engine braking. My sump plug is totally pristine everytime I drop the oil.

  3. PCP is like everything else.

    There are some brilliant deals out there -sometimes.

    It works principally for the business who is the seller.

    Many people have a bike and some cash. They want a £28K bike -they need it!- & they will pay £250 month for it. They don't do the full calculation of the cost.

    If many of them lose their jobs due to this pandemic, the entire industry is in serious trouble.

  4. My philosophy is and has always been “get it any way you have to” so pcp,finance,bank loan, sell you’re body! Doesn’t matter , just get it ! Life is too short to be doing the maths on depreciation!

  5. Rule number one of pcp is that you shouldn’t be putting big deposits down. You’ll never see it again.

    But as you say, there are some good deals about. My Suzuki was so cheap I physically couldn’t not buy it. It was impossible.

  8. The benefit of a PCP is its a good way of putting a limit on how much you can lose on depreciation ! Get a pre reg or ex demo with a decent discount and a high GFV and sensible interest rate will be relatively low cost to own over the fixed period. I’d prefer that over the maybe maybe of having equity at the end of the deal.

  10. I’m pretty sure that’s what a large % of the superstock grid do. Bang the race bike on pcp and then they put them back through approved used after two years of absolute rape as a pristine example

  11. I suspect the s/h diesel/petrol car market will collapse at some point over the next 5 years or so due to electric vehicles.

    Anyone with serious amounts of their own money in one is likely to get their fingers burned badly.

  14. I put myself on some websites at what I feel was a decent hourly rate but no one wanted to rent me. I even offered in home services, but no joy

  17. As has been said PCP / finance is the only thing keeping New Car and Bike Market moving

    I think something like >90% of new cars are sold on PCP.

    Sure you pay interest (as any finance) and maybe more than your bank.. but on bikes - the dealer PCP finance is the only PCP I could find... Bike PCP interest rate is higher than car PCP deals in general..

    PCP as in my case will protect me from the negative equity in the bike... likely will be £1500 to £2000 negative...at the end.. so I will just give it back - that £1500 to £2000 more than covers the interest I have paid on the 3 years...

    So for me the PCP works better than a cash purchase.

    Look at it as a lease or rental.... does it matter..

    If it works for you? Go for it... life is to short to wait.... so long as you can pay the bills....

  19. I would bet that car ownership will be a thing of the past in 10-15 years time.

    I don't think electric cars will be something anyone will aspire too, its just a tool to do a job.

  20. From a manufacturing perspective there will be no difference in spec as far as the “extras” you get in a car. It’s easier (and cheaper) if you don’t have to deal with umpteen variables. There will be one type of each model which will have every extra fitted.

    But......The things like heated seats, air con, radio etc will all be available to rent on a monthly basis and will be operable via an app on your phone. So for example if you only need heated seats in the winter then you rent that option from December through to March. Or if you want aircon in summer then you may rent that option from May to September etc etc.

    Manufacturers like VAG have already started manufacturing like this and are developing the “rental software” for the extras.
