Stroud Brewery

  1. I seem to get through much beer!

So, I ordered some more today and the brewery are saying that in their efforts to go green, they wont be supplying beer in bottles after March - only cans.

I don't get it, as I recycle bottles, just like cans, in that it all goes in my "green" waste.

Anyone know why aluminium cans are "greener" than bottles - apart from, being a pain and holding less, unless they start doing bigger cans?

I was going to take this up with them, but first I wandered if I am just being thick!

  3. It takes a lot less energy to recycle aluminium than it does to recycle glass. Andy

  4. I heard there was a shortage of the special sand needed in the manufacturing of glass

They probably just can’t keep up with your demand!
    :)

  5. Not that i drink much but cant stand beer from a can, just has to be bottled :beer: or on the pump.

  6. I read in a magazine that comes with my beer that cans have a few advantages over bottles.
Weight being one, they stack better and need less protection, easily recycled, the amount of available space for printing is much higher and they don't break if dropped.
I love bottles too but I would have difficulty knowing if the beer was from a bottle or can once it's in the right glass.

  7. I've asked the brewery, but staff are furloughed and it might be a while to get an answer. They are struggling apparently. With the pubs all shut they are having to rely on home sales and crowd funding to keep going. Although I am giving up beer for lent, that may be a bit stupid as I've just ordered over £150 worth, I've decided to stick with them anyway. I always pour my beer into a pint glass and I am certain that I can't tell the difference in if it originally came out of a glass or a can. They are my local brewery amd I have to accept that they know best. I wouldn't dare tell them how they should brew the beer, so WTF should I tell them what container to put it into.

Returning to the subject of Ducatis, There were two gas heater repair vans in the close when I did my walk to the doctor's, today. The close rang out to the sounds of "I haven't seen one of those for years!" as well as "You can't get the parts, you know!" and "You are better off buying a new boiler rather than me trying to fix this one!"

Made me smile as I don't have to deal with this crap anymor,e but my Ducatis are 2008 and 2000. If I was to go to an independent - like http://www.louigimoto.com/ - and Rich started giving me the, "Phhhhhhhhhhst, ain't seen one of those in years!" or "can't get the parts, y'know!" hen I would tell him to feck off and be convinced that he's an idiot! But with bikes, we don't get any of this sh1t!!! So with independent bike repairers, this crap just doesn't happen, so why do gas repairers think that it is acceptable?

  8. Quite right to support your local brewery, we have Rebellion at Marlow, a drive through service, you can buy draught beer in big containers, in small barrels or bottles, all the same in a glass, cheers
