1260 1260 Slip-on Exhaust - Vanity Or Performance?

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Graeme Collins, Feb 19, 2021.

  1. I know that a full system will offer a more significant gain in performance, but do slip-on's offer anything or are they just about ascetics and sound? Termignoni is the obvious candidate, but have others gone with different options and why?

  2. Even a full system isn’t going to make a huge gain and all the weight & restriction is in the cat, so I’m going with vanity.

  3. Asthetics and negligble sound. The slip on is still down stream of the cat. Andy

  4. A good way to waste money.

  5. Initially I deccatted my bike, horrendous obscene noise so put the cat back on.

Then I took it off again and cut the side out and removed the gubbins from inside and welded it back up again, combined with the stock end can it sounded a lot more to my taste but not obscene.

Then simply for vanity I got a Leo Vince end can and removed the baffle, now I am happy.

  6. First thing: A Full System will NOT offer a more significant gain in performance. Slip-on=Nada.
Now you can decided what you want to do.

  7. do you have to put it back to stock for MOT as the emissions without the cat ‍♂️

  8. No. They don't test emissions on bikes.

  9. Do any of the slip ons improve heal clearance?

  10. Had full system on my 11 plate S.. The noise was embarrassing!
De-catted standard box, used the end can.. Lovely rich note but not obtrusive in any way.
Bought new, unused standard cat section for my 17 plate. Darkholed it, de-catted the section on the bike and run it with Termi end can.
Again, lovely rich note and not obtrusive. The bike feels like it breaths a bit better and has benefits of all being EU marked.

  11. When can you do mine Norm!?... lol. Hope you’re ok mate

  12. I’m still breathing, which is a bonus.! Happy to show you what needs doing. Get yourself a 2nd hand standard cat box and we’ll go from there.

  14. As Big Al and Shoboshi said, pound for pound de-catting the standard box combined with disabling the exhaust flap is a great option, cheap and doesn’t upset the fuelling. No worries about insurance and gives a better sound but not stupid!

  15. Great, Thanks, how much and where are you in West Sussex?

  16. Check the part numbers guys! I believe the 1260 has a different part no to the 1200 DVT.

  17. End can for vanity, Termi full system for better fuelling, as it comes with the up map. Neither will give you any more power though.

  18. Tony, I don't want any money for it and I live in Loxwood.
However a certain Ginger guy may have pointed out a fatal flaw in the plan. Mine is off a 1200 DVT so if it is different to a 1260 then it's no good to you.
