V4 Brembo Corsa Corta Fitment

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by DRR117, Feb 22, 2021.

  1. Evening all, I remember reading somewhere that someone had issues with clearance fitting an aftermarket brake master cylinder with the stock throttle housing assembly. Is it true the lever hits the throttle housing? Wanting to upgrade the master cylinder but not sure if it’ll fit.

  2. I remember the same issue being flagged up. IMO, nothing wrong or under performing about the master cylinder fitted. It’s like you’ve thrown an anchor out at the end of the back straight at Almeria. Andy

  3. Totally agree! But that’s not to say they can’t be improved on slightly. I’m pretty sure though you will only improve the modulation thus improving the feel. Possibly to the point of them feeling more powerful. Same can be said with different pad material to a certain degree. I think the only true measure of bigger gains would be doing an ABS delete with new lines and the Master Cylinder. Question is will the price reflect the benefits? .... Probably on a hardcore level:bucktooth:

  4. I’ve got the dry break hel lines from my 1299 and will be using Z04 pads so just wanted to know how people got on with the master cylinder upgrades.

I like having some stopping power. You never know when you might need to show off for a camera... :):):)

  5. From my perspective, not sure about the ABS delete but certainly I agree small improvements are achievable. I use a high quality fluid and a set of sintered track focussed pads that I get on with. Andy

  6. I threw a costa coffee master cylinder on my gayxer and even with the abs still in place it gave me much better feel as well as more control over modulation and a better, firmer lever. It was a real improvement.

Panigale brakes are a shed load better than the Suzuki’s though. My 1299 had the best brakes of any road bike I’ve ever ridden. Really good abs system as well. For an abs system.

If you want anymore than that, you want to loose the abs, go direct lines and get some Gucci pads in.

  7. As for your original question however.. I’m not sure.

What I do know though is, more often than not you’ll need to swap the reservoir and bracket as well. As they tend to be awkwardly mounted otherwise/leak and get in the way.

  8. Love the auto correct, pretty sure you didn’t mean Costa Coffee :joy: Andy

  9. Message Andyb or if he is gone from here, go to "the other place". He has played with a few options and has gone RCS with a new combined throttle switch housing. He should be able to expand on the trial and error sessions.

  10. Exactly what I’m saying..... Doesn’t necessarily mean your brakes will instantly feel more powerful ..... You will just gain better control in how you want them to modulate... it will create the feeling of a firmer and more powerful lever for sure.

  11. Like I said even changing pad type material will have the same effects. All these things can have a drastic effect on how it will feel. Fluids and bleeding are very often overlooked in the grand scheme of things! .... just saying:bucktooth:

  13. Cheers guy, appreciate the feedback. Maybe I’ll see how I get on with the lines and pads and see if it warrants a new master cylinder. Not even ridden a V4 yet so she might take some getting used to anyway. Donny 14th April for my first outing :):)

  14. I’ve gone srf fluid and z04 pads on mine and had intended to go full whack gprx calipers Hpk discs,m/cal but to be honest don’t think it’s needed already they’re as good as my fully set up R1 race bike!
