Morning, has anybody bought a set of these ? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ixil-Exh...010338?hash=item1cfd22f2e2:g:Y64AAOSwZ05f633L Made in Spain I believe and look pretty good and price is great. Not bothered about performance just want to bling the bike up a bit
Might as well just paint the existing covers black. That will look good too and do exactly the same - nothing.
They do claim to change the exhaust note and there is a DB killer that can be removed. Do you have the same view on the Akrapovic slip on ones or are they worth 3 times the amount ?
Having changed to the Termi a few years ago I have great sound now. On the Supersport all of the silencing is in the cat box under the engine. Any end can makes hardly any difference, that is why I suggested taking them off completely. I tried it with out the end cans and there is very little difference, try it as it is a quick job to remove them completely. Many people tried the different end cans when the bike was fairly new and they all came up with the same thing, they are mostly cosmetic. This is the first mod that I did to the bike. https://ducatistbike.wordpress.com/2017/10/08/ducati-939-supersport-panniers/
You get what you pay for. Ixil have been around for years catering for the budget conscious market. The exhaust is not EU compliant and the db killers in the exhaust you are looking at are pop riveted in according to the small print. Andy
Yes, apparently its a small spot weld to drill out. Just fishing around for idea's and advice. Someone's always done it before Not sure I want to get rid of the cat and get into re tuning the bike for a full exhaust.
You don't have to have a retune. I went with the many international owners and just fitted the Termi exhaust, no cat and no exhaust valve. The bike ran very much the same with a batter noise afterwards. If I had had it tuned then it would take a much better rider than me to notice the 2 or 3 bhp I might gain as I have only been riding big bikes since 1976. I would say that it is a bit more economical without the cat, but only a small amount, perhaps 5% tops. Mine is used as a tourer. It seems to be a very British thing that you have to have the retune.
That's good to hear, if the ECU can handle the cat being removed. I was concerned about running lean. Perhaps I will look at other options. Cheers
I got akra slip on pre-owned for a good price from a friend of mine and I'm surprised how little it does comparing to how much it costs brand new. But as said above, when you take off the standard slip-ons you will see how much sits in the cat, you will realize a slip-on can't do too much. I have 2 MIVV slip-ons from Ducati 821 and that akra slip on. I will probably consider buying Delkevic decat and fitting 1 mivv and selling akra.
Like Bob says anything you use with the standard silencer is barely any louder and like Bob I started my bike with my Akras off and it was slightly louder but nothing anyone would really notice. Now the Termi, that does sound louder and bike seems to breathe much better. Bit of a twat to fit mind you.
