E10 Fuel From September

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by duke63, Feb 25, 2021.

  1. My GS, nearing 40,000 miles runs better on motorway journeys on super dooper fuel. For the Pani I put super unleaded non supermarket fuel in just out of habit really. Will pour some supermarket normal fuel in and see if it makes a difference soon.

  2. I only use super in my '94 900SS and 98SPS. The 900 was very reluctant to start if left for more than a week with normal unleaded in, but no such issues with a tank full of super.
Without Super, the SPS runs like a bag o shite, so on the rare occasions I have to put some regular unleaded in, the search for some V-power dictates my next destination.
I don't believe the stuff coming out of the pumps marked Super at the filling station at the top of Bray Hill during the TT is anything other than normal unleaded from the way my SPS misfired a few years ago so I now avoid it. No such problems from Peel Road near the fire station or the one near Parliament Square in Ramsey.

  3. Of course there is a legitimate reason, I always fill up on premium fuel be it diesel or petrol flavour, I may drive a White van but it shows I am not a peasant to the fairer sex. :)

I had a DPF fault last week right before the MOT, my grease monkey sorted that right out.

  5. my local shell was out of v power and Tesco is near to me :innocent:

  6. A Tesco supermarket near by? I simply would have to move. Standards please. One should be near to a Waitrose and send the odd jobs chappie to fill ones vehicular requirements. Dear me whatever next? Tesco milk?:)

  7. Youre telling me - my rsv4 tank is 1/4" longer than it should be and most of the time the good stuff goes in....

  8. Had this with my MV despite being all over this ethanol thing and spending extensive time emailing petrol companies to find out the E content of their fuel. There were only a couple that were E free in their super fuels, Esso and another I can’t remember now (might have been BP?) That is unless you lived in the West Country or the north east for some reason, they didn’t get the choice? Tank still started to bubble/deform

  9. That link won't open for me. What's the name of the stuff?

  10. :joy: Funnily enough

no waitrose fuel here so shell it is

  11. Odd job chappie?
How very nouveau. A gentleman would have his valet or driver deal with all that mechanical nonsense.

  12. Hoot owl

Really useful stuff as I’ve got an RS250 and have just inherited an unfinished Mototrans 350 from my Dad. I was looking at getting a sealing kit and doing both of them or at least trying. Always use Esso super unleaded at the moment due to Ethanol issues. Would using the additive negate having to line the tanks? Cheers

  13. Always used premium in my bikes. I even use it in my lawnmower from left over track day juice :joy:. Only my car gets cheap stuff, but they're always new and get changed every 3-4 years before anything's an issue. I don't have performance cars either.

  14. You are quite right. I was being rather base to appeal to the unfortunately lower echelons of our society.
I will give my driver a sound thrashing before retiring this evening. Dear chap seems to like it. My valet sadly retired early this year, mere 93 year old. How does one cause ones toothbrush to foam? Is there something I should be putting on it? So tiresome all these tasks. Pip pip

  15. Nanny always dealt with all of that for me so I can't help I'm afraid

  16. Your help has a name/ title? How frightfully odd.

  17. Apparently if i get the tank emptied out.....it "should" shrink back down....so Griff at Aprilia Performance says....i wont hold him to it but its worth a shot....failing that a carbon fibre one....but thats 2k or so....be a cool thing to have though...

  18. Helpful thread this, think i will get myself a bottle got to be cheaper than a swollen tank.

  19. Don’t all bikes have a sticker on the tank nowadays saying it’s suitable for E10 fuel?

Mine do, as you can see.
