1098 Termi Full System

Discussion in '848 / 1098 / 1198' started by james bazel, Oct 18, 2020.

  1. Got a question for 1098 owners who installed full termi systems with a ecu flash , did you notice any reasonable power gains and was the cost worth it? I'm not just talking about dyno graph numbers, but was there a noticeable difference on the ass dyno felt while riding the bike also.

  2. Hi I have an 1198 and installed a full 70mm termignoni system then had it remapped it made 175 bhp on the dyno before being remapped it made 167bhp the most noticeable difference was now the midrange power is incredible and also a much smoother and linear power delivery I believe it’s well worth getting it remapped

  3. Thanks , at some point I think I will get the full system and get it mapped.

  4. Just remember that the 70mm system headers for the 1098 are different to the 1098R and 1198. The exhaust stud spacing on the 1098 is slightly narrower. Andy

  5. I put a full system on my 848 and had much the same experience as Graham onhis 1198, 5 to 10% increase in power, very noticeable in the mid range, and a beautiful resonant growl from the rear. Oh and the slash cut carbon cans really set off the look of the rear end.

  7. Good to know. Thanks

  8. I did it to my 1198. Also got a CJS tune up for it. Was it worth it? No. I wouldn't do it again. Its all at the top and if that is what you are after, then yes it prob is. Me, I preferred the bike with just slash cuts. Plus they sounded better. I thought it moved the mid up the rev band too. I felt the bike became more aggressive.

  9. have to agree with bootsam, it all depends what you do with the bike. for track i think it would benefit you, but for the street, you won't notice the difference. If you have the coin and want bragging rights, do it, but your ass won't feel it.

  10. I think cjs didn’t remapp properly as it depends on what you want a remapp to do I wanted linear power throughout the Rev range and that’s exactly what I got my midrange power now is awesome and smooth if I wanted it for track use I’m sure I could have got it remapped for that so all the power at the topend maybe you should have explained to the remapper what you wanted out of the bike

  11. I should add that Tom at Snells told me exactly how the bike would behave with a full system and he was 100% right. I still went ahead with it, coz Im an idiot.
Chris spent 8hrs on my 1198 and gave me 171rwbhp and 107ft.lbs. He did a terrific job and I cant fault his work at all. He and Rich both advised me that it would all be up top because thats how it works. I was okay with that as I am an idiot.
I loved it at first, but it wore me out as I lost my lazy blat into and out of corners. I think maybe I wasnt as good as the bike became if I am honest. Its a road bike, not a track bike and I was better served with slash cuts. But I'm an idiot.
At the end of the day, you do what you want and you may or may not get what you expect. Thats just life.

  13. You have to remember its also how we as humans 'feel' about it too. So, it may be great for you. But I never liked mine after as much as I did before. That said I still miss my 1198. hehe I got more torques than u did. :p

  14. Because this is a track only bike more top end power is what I am looking for so the full system may be what I need.
