Hi I need to "fence" a length around 8m but I can't put posts in or attach to the floor. No posts basically. I can put very strong posts either end. Ideas please. Creamy
What's the purpose? What strength/ security does it need to provide or is it just a formal barrier? Height?
For garden so needs to look reasonable. Semi permanent. Intention is barrier between neighbor. Ideally it doesn't touch the ground apart from either end.
Stainless steel cable c.8-10mm diam anchored on one post snd with a ratchet tightening winder behind the other post. 8m is a long run but if tensioned correctly will have minimal droop. You can run 3 cables at different heights. Think of the safety cabling running between stanchions around the edge of a yacht’s deck. The added benefit (and I presume this is to go between you and neighbour who built the illegal structure the foundations of which encroached on your land?) is you can connect a 240v supply to it to keep the neighbour on his toes .
I would make bases out of breeze block. Then place the fence post inside and cement in place, which will allow you to get the post/ fence close to the edge of your property or property line. There will be enough weight to support other beams and they won't be blown over. I'd use wooden posts so that you can easily attach wire or wood to go in between each base linking them together. Once all assembled and in place, some fast growing evergreen plant that climbs and thrives in a large plant pots would be nice. Again personally I'd choose Halliana Honey suckle as its looks great year round, grows fast, smells great, minimal maintenance and cheap at £5 per established plant. Locally here Wickes stock trellis and different types of light simple fencing which would also support light plants growth without problem.
@Cream_Revenge - Why can’t you put the post in or attach them to the floor? As WCP said the only way to span 8m without touching the ground is by using cable(s) tensioned between the two points.
Might now own the property and rent, landlord isn't going to build a fence if it's not required maybe?
sounds like the perfect excuse to buy more bikes to me. how many bikes do you need to span 8mts and still have one spare for use?
Dig trench along fence line, fill with water then piranha then entice neighbour over border with smell of beer and BBQ
