V2 Scratched Tft

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Panther6500, Mar 5, 2021.

  1. I noticed my V2 TFT dash has a scratch on it dead centre. It looks like one of my grey hairs is laying on it! It’s not deep but it is noticeable at certain angles. My question is can/should I attempt to polish it out - and with what?
    Any thoughts lovely people?

  2. I used Displex on my 1198 screen

  3. If the screen is plastic then I usually use a very very fine cream polish and little by little you end up polishing it out I’ve done this many many times to restore old plastic tail lights that at first appear totally trashed and even did a neighbour’s main screen on his bike to remove some much deeper scratches. If the screen is glass then you need to buy some cerium oxide powder which is especially for removing light scratches in glass. It normally comes in a powder form and you just mix it to suit your needs, you can get it on the internet in very very small bags and I mean small. Good luck whichever way you try removing the scratches. If you do maybe look at a screen protector from a company called I think speed angels.

  5. Once done get a screen protector, I have had one on my screen since Dec 2018 and no issues.
R&G racing supply them for about £25.

  6. Yeah, get a screen protector. The screens must be soft as shite because I've noticed light swirling on mine just from cleaning with microfibre cloths. I'd say the horse has bolted for me though.

  9. I know ridiculous really - such quality machines otherwise.

  10. Try covering it with the Angel before you go polishing. The Angel may hide it for you.

  11. I’ve ordered from Speedo Angel - I’ll try that.

  12. You get at least two in the packet, so try it with no polishing. If you can still see the scratch, take off the angel (they are single use) polish the screen and apply the second one.

  13. Just use both and have double glazing :D I’d definitely clean with the wipe first to remove any surface dust. I do know of people using more abrasive polishing compounds to remove small swirls or very light scratches. It’s a little bit of a lottery, but generally quite successful. Good luck and hope it works out for you:upyeah:

  14. cheers like the double glazing idea
