Ducati Forum Ceramic Coating Deal!

Discussion in 'Detailing and cleaning' started by El Toro, Mar 7, 2021.

  1. Thanks to Mark / @Carbon749 , Gary at MotorSpa In Swadlincote is delighted in offering ducatiforum members only as a “Ducati Forum” owners deal for ceramic coating your bikes.

    The full treatment includes:

Pre wash, snowfoam, 2 bucket safe wash, 3 stages of decontamination including wheels (chemical and clay bar) blow dry with warm air, machine polish to remove any marring, swirls and light scratches in the paintwork, the bike is then completely degreased once more ready for the ceramic to be applied.
The 3 year lasting 9H hardness ceramic is applied to all areas of the bike i.e. paintwork, forks, wheels, frame, swingarm, instrument cluster and most importantly to the engine and exhaust system (which is a service most dealerships areunable offer) as we use a specific and unique motorcycleceramic designed to handle heat up to 750°

The ceramic is also air brushed onto the motorcycle (not wiped on) so it covers all components with an even coating.

    Benefits :-
Extremely hydrophobic (water beads off any coated surface)
Corrosion resistant (stops road film, brake dust and weather eating into your bike)
    UV resistant (stop paint fading/deteriorating)
Keeps matte finishes non glossy and adds an insaine amount of gloss to paintwork and chrome.
    Price - £329

    Helmet, decontamination and polish.
    Price - £10

First year maintenance wash and reapply coating wherenecessary.
    Price - £60

All for a preferential ducatiforum rate of £329

So basically in addition to a fantastic rate he is throwing in the helmet treatment and 1 year maintenance wash and re-apply worth £70, for free.

Gary is also a keen biker, and his unit is clean, secure and fully insured.

If your thinking about getting this treatment done then contact Gary at MotorSpa, 230 High St, Newhall, SwadlincoteDE11 0EA (Tel 07717 578833) and tell him you’re from “ducatiforum.co.uk”

  2. That’s amazing
    Thank you Gary

  3. Gary will also give you guidance on how to maintain the coating.

i was advised to use a hose pipe to remove the worst of the dirt, wash with PH neutral shampoo, then dry with recommended cloths.

Gary will not try to sell you these, he will gladly give you advice on brands and where to buy. The wash is £9 for a bottle off eBay, that will last years as you use a tiny amount per wash.

The cloths are professional quality microfibre cloths that are 5 for £12.50

I’ve been advised not to use acidic or TFR style prewash, no wax based products at all. Basically, wash and dry only.

If using a jet wash, no direct jet from jet wash, stand back and mist the bike.

If the bike is not too dirty, then you can use the PH neutral wash, with a cloth, and gently wipe away bugs and dust etc.

  4. Does the deal apply to cars also (I expect the price to be higher obviously)?

  9. Seems a bit steep. I bought my 848 from a dealer last year and whilst not budging on the price he told me he could arrange a similar coating FOC; Daddy likes FOC so I said yes.

The bike looks lovely, but i have to admit I can detect no noticable difference on the finish, it is no more shiny than any other bike I have had where I have done the detailing.

I also have to admit to being a bit dubious...Back in the early 90's I sold cars. BOOOOOOO!!!! I hear you cry? Fair enough!

Anyway, we used to punt "Scotchguard" for the seats, they got the hard sell make no mistake! Quite a few folks signed up for the not inconsiderable price of nearly £200; it cost the company about £30, was painted on with a brush, you couldn't tell it was there and as far as I could see made no appreciable difference on seats that had already been treated at the factory. It was a good earner though for all concerned.

Just a wee cautionary tale before you blow £300+ on something you probably don't need....

  10. A few before pics, these were marks that I couldn’t get out using typical DIY polish and techniques.

The paintwork is now like glass. The coating should last 3 years, and simple to keep clean, no more polishing etc. It’s also applied to engine, wheels, all fasteners etc so those big wheel nuts, calliper bolts, fork pinch bolts etc that discolour with time, should stay nice and shiny.

A neighbour had his black VW van ceramic coated when new. He uses a wash, hose pipe and towel dries it. Looks like new, it’s 4 years old. It was this example that gave me the confidence to give it a try.

  11. How long does he need for a bike ?

  12. He had mine for a few days, but I’d already arranged to take the bike one Saturday and collect the following Saturday.

Give Gary a call to check.

  13. He told me he'd need it two full days

  16. Just dropped mine off there this morning and picking it up next weekend. He could have done it in two days, but said the longer he had it the more thorough a job could be done. He sounds like he knows what he's doing and i think that's a great price for the amount of work he'll be putting into it. He's doing my lid too

  17. This may be of interest tho I think Gary is offering a fair deal for the amount of work involved to do a thorough job...

  18. Picked my bike up yesterday, one word, WOW

It's beautifully clean and VERY shiney  i would highly recommend having your bikes done here if you're thinking about it.

Rode through 3 rain showers to get home, so now needs a wash :confounded:
