Millennials don’t understand as they aren’t exposed to it anymore..... Those kind of jobs are seen as “eww” by those skinny, de-caffe, caramel latte drinking, transgender benders.....
I wouldn’t have made it past the 18 second burntandblackenedtoacrisp mark !! It would have gone in the bin then!
I just love all that low tech stuff ..... I've worked in some so-called "developing" countries , and I've been amazed at the ingenuity I've seen . Keep in mind that labour is relatively cheap , but imported replacement parts for anything are outrageously expensive by local standards .... and there'll be a whopping customs duty on top . I saw an old fella replacing components on a satellite receiver board ...... sitting on his door step , and a few shops down the road they were making sandals and buckets out of used tyres and inner tubes ! Don't think I'd be buying those re-cut tyres though ..... pretty close to the canvas .....
Starter motor guy, cudos. Ultimate recycling. The tyre... thinner carcass and flat profile, something of a bodge and potentially dangerous. I do get that it recycles and keeps costs down as labour there makes this viable. Added the to fact that it will go on some low powered machine. A case of where needs must I suppose.
