LCD dash query

  1. OK, so I am on the verge of purchasing my first ever Ducati. A 2004 ST3. My only concern about it is the LCD dash. As you can see from the attached picture, there are missing elements on the second digit of the odometer section of the dash. This has the effect of showing the mileage as being 6543 as opposed to 16541 miles. My question is, is this something I should be concerned about? I think it has been like this for about 6 years. Is it something that is likely to get worse? Can the LCD panel be replaced? Thanks in advance of anyones advice.

  2. The ST3 dashes are prone to failure due to ingress of moisture causing corrosion and eventually shorts the PEC, silicone sealant round the edges acts as a preventive measure. The later versions had more screws around the outside to form a better seal.

Scorpio will be able to help if you need any repairs, they are also able to code a new dash to your bike if needs be (Don't think they can alter the mileage??)

  3. Useful contact information Pablo. Thanks :)

  4. Think there is more wrong than that . the first no , top left isnt right and there is an awful lot of 8888888 s on there too. Unless its caused by the photo.

  5. The pic was taken during the initialisation period, just after the ignition is switched on, when all the lights and LCD elements come on.

  6. Thumbs up for Mark at Scorpio Electronics - he sorted my S2R display when it decided to lose the accumulated mileage and show -------- instead. It went wrong at 7000 odd miles, the trip still worked (as did every other function) so I was able to give him an accurate mileage which he verified when he accessed the "lost" information. Some sort of memory corruption was responsible, has been working without fault for a year now. Martin.
