I have them on my ST4s for about 30K Km now and they are perfect. No need to warm up, they work cold, hot , wet you name it. Only take care that you buy a set with grooves, I have seen sets without the vertical grooves that allow for water to escape through them.
personally think the EBC HH pads are wooden and horrible the EBC GPFAX are pretty good for track only i have been buying brembo pads for road use lately
Andy I am open to any constructive suggestions. What did you have in mind? I did look at the GPFAX244HH but EBC says that they are too agressive for road use. Cost and longevity are not an issue for me.
My reason for seeking your advice is that recently one of my sons purchased a fairly new Honda 650 and, having ridden it, I realise how much better the retardation was even though last summer I took the calipers off of their carriers, brake pads out and gave everywhere a damn good scrubbing followed by a complete change of fluids. I don't do a lot of mileage and the pads are the originals and now 20 years old. Any advice will be gratefully received.
As #5, my preference is Brembo which, depending on the retailer can come with a premium price. I’m a big fan of the SC pad which I put in all the bikes in the family but the 07BB19.SA is the road spec and IMO, worth a try. Andy
The Brembo Motorcycle Brakes Configurator won't let me select brake pads for my 01 900 SSie so they are a lot of help.
pretty sure its the same 2pin 4 piston 30/34 "goldline" caliper as used on many monsters, SS , ST, 748/996 07BB19SA is the SA road pad (red metal backplate, black/grey friction material) 07BB19SC is the SC road/track pad (silver metal backplate, red friction material)
I'm sure you are correct with this. Many thanks for the advice as I did want to upgrade if that was possible.
if you want to upgrade, the 4 piston 4 pad P4 34/34 caliper (as per 998s& 749/999) is a straight bolt on to your bike and is a worthwhile upgrade (especially if you also add 749/999 radial master cylinder)
