One thing I meant to ask. What are the relays like. Any Verdi Gris? As they are a 2 quid part and cause no end of problems I would fit new and see it that sorts things.

ok, so i checked with my multimeter, i had 12v on the supply side. I then used the diode mode and checked from the feed side and got nothing but '1'. So it would appear my problem is not a short circuit? The 2 relays above the fuse boxes look ok, there is a tiny bit of verdigris on the bottom of the first 1 but really small. I did order a pair of the relays a couple days ago, fingers crossed this is my issue. The bike is booked into the garage next week as it is due its 7500 mile service, which i was quoted £420.00 . So was hoping to repair it by then. Thankyou so much for your help Chrisw
Horrible faults to rectify. My 999 cooked it’s loom and melted the fuse box due to a short circuit in a LED rear light. I was in Germany close to the Czech border at the time. Hope you sort it easily.
2 brand new relays turned up yesterday, installed them, the bike fired for a short period and then pop goes another fuse
Hi all, just a quick update. The reason the bike was blowing 20a fuse was because a couple wires had rubbed through on the upper right hand side of the bike. Back on the road today, had a great ride until when parked up it decided to roll off it’s stand and drop onto its left hand side. . Anyone have an original upper left white fairing for sale ? Glad you have got the electrical issue sorted out mate. On the other hand im gutted for you that its rolled off the side stand, hope its not too bad and that you can get it back shipshape again soonest.
