  2. Bought a pair of Grip Puppies for the Multistrada. Got BIG hands and Ducati fit small diameter grips. I’ve put up with it for several years but my hands aren’t getting any younger and the GP’s should add a small but noticeable increase in grip size. Andy

  3. I have hand issues from boxing and so I tried Grip Puppies. They’re ok as they increase the radius of the bar and they provide some cushioning but they do soak up water like a sponge (cos that’s what they’re made of), so with the evaporative cooling effect you often end up with hands that are both sore AND cold. Also when they’ve been fitted to the bars for a while they get kind of baggy and need to be glued in place.

  4. Interesting. My girlfriend had them on her Diavel without those sort of issues. Will see how they go. Andy

  5. Agreed, I’ve used them a few times they give good service.

Just need to rebuild the brakes so I can sell mine as I only bought it to commute to work on long distance, contract has come to an end so can be sold on as I have no further use for it.

I don’t like selling stuff that has faults or problems.

  6. With aged and arthritic hands I need a larger grip, my solution was cricket bat handle rubber - £2 off Ebay (and one does both grips) - rolled on and secured with SS lock wire.

  7. The bike they were fitted to lived outside so maybe that’s why

  8. I like grip puppies, I find them comfortable. Spray the inside of them and or the handlebar with hair spray. They go on dead easy and then set firm pretty quickly. Better than using Fairy liquid.

  9. Ive had them for around two years now and find they do make riding a bit more comfy, also used hairspray, as @Android853sp mentioned hands are not as young as they used to be :)

  10. Have sold a few more ancient Cafe Racer parts on ebay.Still suprised by buyers and what they will pay for stuff. Some parts selling for less than I expected, and some way in excess of what they are worth.
Next job is to start selling the old bikes I no longer can ride.Classified ad on ebay worth a try just to see how the market is,plus the entertainment value of the neer do wells looking for a bargain.

  12. Fingers crossed for you, it like filling in your self assessment for the taxman.............nail biting moments.

  13. Took the Scrambler for its first outing since the service , what a difference a new chain makes , did about 80 miles today , went thru Burrington Combe , across the Mendips , through Shepton Mallet , pass Frome , Longleat , through Bath then home .

  14. As a mark of respect to “Phil the Greek” I had a quick blast over the Helmsley TT...

All good until on the way back there was a massive downpour and both me and the bike were covered in white salt spray,...even all over the back of my helmet it was!
Probably took me 3 hours to get it and my bike gear clean again  !

  15. Used to do the North Yorkshire TT (Stokesley-Helmsley-Stokesley) at least 3 times a week from early spring to late autumn when I lived up there 20 odd years ago. :)

  16. Replacing the starter motor relay on the (1995) 600ss. A bit fiddly (RHS fairing off, seat off, tank off, battery off), but can then reach it through the battery holder. Should get it finished tomorrow. :)

  18. Aye it’s a cracking road, the bobbies have taken to using a camera van on it these days, but after a while you get to know where they park it and just take the necessary precautions

  19. Completed the job of modding the airbox on the 900ss bobber to be used as a hidey hole for the wiring, coils, fuses, relays etc.

Discovered that my Dremel is missing it's chuck so I had to do all the cutting hand with a variety of junior hacksaws and bare blades, which was chucking annoying, but it turned out ok. Spent hours of trial and error working out how to get it all in and snapped a few wires in the process, but the bikes still runs although it now has no lights or indicators at the moment. I'll sort that out tomorrow.

Looks a hell of a lot lot neater now. There's no room inside the box for cones and all the electrics etc so I removed the rubber trumpets and used their holes to feed in some of the wiring. Tbh, now I know that, I think I will now get another airbox but won't cut the sides and just feed all the wiring in through the air intake holes in the bottom.

Now to find a way of fitting some form of air filters onto the throttle bodies. The rear cylinder is fairly easy as the rubber trumpet can be fed out at 90º and it'll be easy to mount a cone on the end, but the top of the front cylinder TB is very close to the underside of the airbox and so some other solution is needed.

  20. Took the rear caliper from the Tiger into work , in order to remove one of the rounded off pins that hold the pads in place , the torx bit and impact driver method didn't work , I drilled if out and then cleaned the thread with a 10mm tap , also managed to free the seized bleed nipple , next job will be to try and free the pistons .
