  2. I hope you can get some justice and your kit back. This does kinda illustrate why we should not make assumptions and potentially blame someone not involved without any evidence. No doubt those 6 guys will all have been questioned and feel shit too.

  3. Was this van / guy, part of the team that laid the concrete, or just an opportunist?

  4. my first thoughts too. then i thought that's a pretty disloyal team if they so willingly gave up the video footage.

  5. Sounds like white van man knew what he was doing spotted an opportunity with plenty of others to blame
Good job for cctv and cameras in vans

  7. Call the police for an incident number of the crime, so you can forward the details via email to the company. You then should call the company asking for email address, pointing out that they are employing an oppertunist thief & have reported the company to the police. Then do the same via the email explaining how you are dismayed & will no doubt suffer the lose without reimbursment. But atleast you (them the company) have an oppertunity to make things right & hopefully ween out the scumbag before more customers suffer the same fate.

Thankfully its only a dewalt, if it was a makita I'd be super pissed]

Edit: Good that the company can cover its backs & it was some white-van asshole. Who'll probably be known to police so they won't give a fuck

  8. if i've got it right, he might have zero ties to the concrete pouring company? - just an opportunist white van man hoping to blend in, and as Mick-Bob suggested, could be something he does regularly.

  9. You make me laugh, porch-thieves in ussa has been a decade long thing! The uk doesn't suffer that & probably will never suffer it because on the whole we are an honest society. But if you want to portray every other nation as copying the backwards hickville US you are truely lost. Amazon makes vast sum's because UK & EU are honest nations.

I've asked amazon to post its losses of items 'stated delivered' via customer services. And do so with nations such as usa. But they don't want too because it would show how awful united states are compared to real first world countries.

  10. i'm glad I make you laugh, happy to be exposed as naive but i'm sure many on here weren't aware either. Truly lost? this has grown massively in the last 3 years, and particularly due to the pandemic, it's something that will only increase here now (imo), I could be wrong but i'm allowed to have that opinion aren't I?

Re: "copying US" - like we've never done that before in other instances, have we?

  12. Well the americans now create boobytrap devices & some y/t channels are trying to shame their states citizens into been honest. Along with news castors doing set peice about the epidemic. The mindset of desperation does play into this though as the millions of US citizens are living in vehicles(cars). Driving by items that they can grab for 'free' if no one see's them. So cctv & ring-doorbells (other brands are available) now are becomng common with the shrinking middle-class.

You should check out 'gas station encounters' for another line of american practises. The pocket junk food shite aka casual culture of theft.

  14. You are probably covered on your house insurance, I had my van broken into on my drive and that was covered.
Slightly different story but a similar outcome.

  15. if the garage door was open and no proof of forced entry id say a contents claim highly unlikely plus the xs is worth more than the value of the stolen items anyway and even if not, not sure id be claiming for such a small amount given the likely bump up in premium and potential loss of ncb unless protected

  16. Nope, it was stolen from your house, that is what the insurance is for. In your claim you do not have to specifically say it was not under lock and key and you are not likely to be asked.

  17. Report it to the police and get a crime number, the insurance company will need this.
