  1. Pretty sure I read somewhere that a law was created after WW2 that no medicine would be forced upon a human being. I don’t believe vaccines should be mandatory and shouldn’t stop people travelling or going about their lives.

I don’t and haven’t lived in fear of Covid, I’m at much more risk driving the motorway network IMO.
I have had my first jab, my choice and I didn’t feel forced into it but, I’m sure we will be forced which goes against the grain a bit for me.

  2. What do you think we will be forced to do?

  3. Well said. I have never been concerned about a travel document showing I was vaccinated. We are now talking about potentially people having liberties restricted. Such as in location monitoring, in country travel restrictions, right to privacy, right to work, freedom of expression and protest, etc. I was expecting another 911 terrorist attacked as an excuse by the governments to erode our freedoms. I never saw a pandemic as the reason.

I find it interesting that the governments are pushing lockdowns, fines and the vaccine. But have you heard of one government encouraging their population to physically get in shape...to eat healthy? In NA almost half the population is obese and suffer from heart disease, cancers, diabetes, etc,. etc. I see men, woman and children everywhere carrying an extra 100 to 300 pounds of fat shoveling shit into there bodies.....yet there is absolutely no attempt to help these people and encourage them. The immune system is so fucked up for most people and that is the real cause of this pandemic.

That is my rant for the day.

  8. Peer pressure will be the closest, it will originate from the media, "the anti-vaxers" are preventing a return to normal etc.
It's worth watching what's going on in Israel to see what I suspect will happen here....it's not pretty for the not so biddable.

  9. In my view the UK government has been trying to do this for several years. The UK is the ‘fat man of Europe’ with apparently over 60% overweight of which 30% obese. Pre covid there was continuous govt messaging that being overweight or obese significantly increased your risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, certain cancers, etc, and warnings that at the current increasing rates the NHS wouldn’t be able to cope with the resultant load or cost, and prevention was better than the cure.

As well as being bombarded with these risk factors, the govt introduced the sugar tax on soft drinks. Soft drink manufacturers said it wouldn’t work but I read 2 years after it’s introduction, 50% of soft drinks had been reformulated, resulting in over 45 million Kg of sugar per year being removed from soft drinks in the UK. Also moves to remove the mountains of sweets and chocolates from supermarket checkouts to reduce temptation.

Among the fitness incentives is the cycle to work scheme with tax incentives to get cycling, the aim of which is to improve fitness, reduce road traffic pollution etc

On the arrival of covid it soon became clear of the increased risk of death or serious illness with co morbitities such as being overweight (and the associated heart, blood pressure, type 2 diabetes). One would imagine that focussed quite a few minds on what actions you could take to reduce your individual risk now, rather than next month or next year (and probably the driver for a surge in bicycle sales).

In general, whilst you can’t prevent ageing, managing what you eat and how much you exercise impacts your own fitness, so your choice, but whatever your physical condition, breathing on someone, although potentially unpleasant, doesn’t necessarily make them ill, or even kill them, which most people accept covid can. So a bit difficult to mandate exercise and calorie counting.

Hence, IMHO, the govt lockdowns to try and limit the spread of the virus to protect the vulnerable and the vaccines are the route out and hopefully help the economy recover.

Difficult for the govt at the moment, as saying to the populus ‘it’s all your fault coz you are all overweight and don’t exercise’ wouldn’t be well received.

I’ll go and get my coat (well, cycling jacket actually....)

  10. The fortunate thing about ducati and other sports bikes is that you have to stay in shape to ride them. I don't see very many fat riders on a duc...
