V4 Broken Already

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Bn1, Apr 13, 2021.

  1. Not even got to the first service..500miles in and the QS/Auto blipper/ gear indicator has packed in :-(

When it was working I noticed that between some gear change up shifts there is a noticeable delay in shifting...it’s like you are rolling off the throttle..so it cuts the power for far too long..it’s not slick at all..is that normal? Not gonna lie it’s annoying..but not as annoying as the whole thing dying now!

  2. Take it back to the supplying dealer to sort out. Early Panigale V4’s had a software upgrade after some owners had QS problems. Not suggesting it’s the reason for your problem but I wouldn’t have attempted to run the bike in, in race mode. Andy

  3. Mine had the issue but it was more on and off, dealer got it sorted no problem.

  4. I’m assuming this a MY21 or 20?

If so it’s a bad do from Ducati. There have been QS and gear position sensor issues since it’s launch in 2017. I changed the QS on my MY18 V4S for an after market H&M job. Tbf the OE QS on mine was holding up ok but I was hearing about plenty of failures. The gear position sensor did fail on mine. But good old Neil at Cornerspeed replaced it under warranty. As their failure was heat related (bolted to engine case), I think Ducati improved the design. If it’s the gear position sensor, make sure you get the latest rev. They have different part numbers.

  5. The OE QUICKSHIFTER IS CRAP HAD MINE REPLACED THREE TIMES ON MY 1299 , last one seems to be holding up .

  6. Yeah mine was replaced last year! QS changed up ok, it just would blip and go down. Also caused bike to stall twice for no reason... Now on the newer latest version. Smooth as butter up and down with zero stalling. It’s a known issue apparently. Unless your taking it too MR who apparently mentioned they haven’t ever changed a faulty one, or heard of any such issues. Oh and blamed my Rearsets on the issue!.... Hopefully you get it sorted soon

  7. It’s 2020 V4
Well apparently there’s a recall on the bike for this which was issued late last year and I wasn’t contacted over it

The dealers sorting it out next week.
Still not good from Ducati being a known issue.

Does anyone know anything about an evo 2 software update? Was told by another guy that it transformed his V4 and was well worth it? His was a 2019 bike though so not sure if that’s the same case with a 2020?

  8. The Evo 2 software is not supplied as standard but as a cost extra. IMO, the software upgrade is more aimed at those who track their V4. I run it on mine (on track) and it makes a difference. Andy

  9. It’s not just confined to Ducati.... Triumph and Aprilia have had QS issues as well. Not sure on the Jap or German bikes:cool: Still I agree it’s a poor show! Especially as this has been a long term issue with quite a few of the models. Also spanning over a good few years. You would have thought they would have cracked it by now:rolleyes:

  10. I was told the Evo 2 software was only noticeable on the track, and completely unnecessary for a road bike;) but that was from a main dealer that stated they had never heard of any QS issues related to current or previous models:astonished: just saying. Would definitely be worth getting an honest opinion I think.

  11. As said previously by Mary Hinge H M is the only solution.

  12. I asked my dealer about the evo 2 software..they didn’t have a clue what I was on about

  13. I replaced the OEM QS sensor for the Translogic QS (TLS-DCS-J3-PAN-V4-ASY). Multipe complaints direct to Ducati and the dealership about the QS issues got nowhere. The Translogic sensor is a massive improvement. The ignition cut is still a little to long for my liking but I don't get any missed shifts at all anymore.
