Gti Or Type R Sportline?

  1. Agreed my boys Honda keeps going even when it’s thrashed to within inches of it’s engine

  2. Tried the golf R, not a fan personally, feels heavy and less fun than the GTi imo, lugging all that 4x4 weight around for the 1% of the time the front actually cuts in. GTi feels more like an old school hot hatch, R takes itself a bit too serious to be fun. Only my opinion though as they are a great car, just not for me. Type R sport line and GTi more fun and nimble. And besides, don't need all the car I'd ever need, only gonna be a second car.

  4. My ideal hot hatch would be a clio sport, built by Honda.

  5. See, sport line type R a bit more grown up, but still exactly the same mechanicals. 320 bhp etc etc . So all the red stripes, red seats, huge wing etc gone to make a grown up version.

  7. I don’t think I’d want anyone to see me getting out of a type R over the age of 24. That’s the only issue with them.

  8. I agree with you when it comes to the big winged GT version, but in the flesh, the sport line model is more subtle and appealing. I drove one and the gearbox, steering and brakes are absolutely epic. I have a Golf gti now and have had it 4 years. Its a great all round fun car, but the Honda controls were another league. However, I do like the image and subtle nature of the gti, but not a huge fan of the new mk8 interior. Decisions decisions......

  18. Honda every day of the week. Golf's are just a marketing brand selling themselves on what the used to be. VW's aren't as reliable as the used to be, and people who own the believe in myths like "german engineering". They're about as reliable as most other cars
