Crankcase Breather Valve 900ss

  1. ....can it be removed with the engine in situ? The current one seems to be the point of origin of a bit of oil misting. Nothing too bad, but....

Now put about 750 km on bike since I got it, just getting used to it. Gear changes a lot better now but I think will be sorted when I do the clutch.

That stock basket is toast...it looks like a ridge and furrow field! Got the bits to replace clutch basket, just waiting for a window of opportunity. Oh, and bought a stock clutch cover and rubber gasket to replace the dead CF one....

Got the rubber pulley housings, not too bad from main dealer @ £20 a pop. Also got the central belt cover. It's a different colour to the original, but it's new and I've got a nice can of matt grey VHT in the shed so will spray all of the covers to match.

Think I will replace the belts and do the valves at the same time. A winter project.

New SS screw kit bought, replaced all wellnuts, just trying to work out how to repair a couple of minor cracks in LH mirror mount. Mirrors not too bad, but could do with repainting. PO has already refinished them but paint used has reacted.

What do you guys reckon? Strip? Bit worried about paint stripper/plastic interaction.

Oh, and just for S&G, the airbox has had the top removed, it's very noisy....

You will have guessed from all this, that I have totally fallen for this bike.....

    Watch this space....

  2. I would just replace the mirrors with new ones and leave them unpainted

  3. Yes, the crankcase breather can be removed without taking the engine out.
