V4 Thoughts After My First Track Outing On The V4

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by DRR117, Apr 16, 2021.

  1. I’ll be in the 38/39’s when we go back in May for the Ducati day. Was ‘taking it steady’ due to the 8/9 degree air temp.

Remember overtaking you early 2020 on the R1M at cadwell :grinning::grinning: only for you to exploit the Ducati power and drag me on the park straight.... retook you at the end of the straight tho :):upyeah: but as Dean Ellison has told me on a couple of occasions, pissing around with the elbow down isn’t the fastest way around the track! But i can’t help myself when the camera’s looking at me.

Im certainly no coach but could share some tips on body position when we are out in track together if it’s something you want to work on. :upyeah:

  2. Looks so good so I can’t blame you!

Always up for some tips, I’ve got terrible flexibility in my ankles from killing them at football and it does affect my position. I’m a lot better at Cadwell now than early last year too.
I should work harder but I do enjoy not putting a lot of pressure on myself and just putting a smile on my face.

  4. All about having fun :upyeah:

Think I saw your build thread on here if I see you at a track I’ll come and say Hi. We can go out and do some laps together see if can learn from each other :)

1:36’s on the R1 at Cadwell but only had one outing on the V4 at donny so far. Be interesting to see what the V4 can do at Cadwell when I get there later this year

  5. yeah no matter what I get on I make it look like a mini Moto. 6’3 and over 19 stone (although trying to get that down)

being tall helps with the showboating elbow down shots tho :joy:

  6. Sounds good to me mate

That’s a hell of a time at Cadwell, fastest I’ve been there is 1.43. Although I’ve got 3 open pit lanes over the next 3 months so hoping I can drop a bit more off!

    Enjoy mate

  9. Brilliant, just spotted this thread! You seem to be down a gear in most places to me. My gearing's been lowered but only one tooth I think. Top spankage!!

You look bloody quicker than me too :):upyeah:

  10. Don’t think I’ve ever used 1st track before, but watched Scott Redding’s onboard on the V4S road bike and thought I’d see what gears I could get away with.

Honestly, not sure I’m in the right gear for most corners, but trail and error I suppose. Coming into the back straight for example, always dropped to 2nd but think I should be pulling 3rd around there. The bike copes with whatever gear I want quite easily even if it is the wrong gear!

Hopefully put some more entertaining sessions up over the coming weeks with a few Trackdays booked in. And hope to put some faces to names on the Ducati day on the 20th May :)

  11. I would do, but it’s so boring over there with the bikes being so perfect... so I hang out here for the craic!

  12. Yeah I definitely take the Melbourne Loop in 2nd. And Goddards? (Last corner in 3rd) but maybe you’re right and 2nd is the correct gear. Tipping into Coppice you’re in 2nd. I’ve tried that but I’m hooking 3rd at close to max lean.... eeeek!! I’ll have a play with the gearing next time out :):upyeah:

And you’re a braver man than me down Craners when the temperature’s single digits :astonished:.... :upyeah:

  13. The bike is always going to be more capable than I am but it’s going to be fun to see what I can get out of her :)

conditions were far from ideal, bikes dropping like flies but it’s all good fun. :upyeah:

  15. Looks amazing. So you recommend the evo2 software? How much was it?

  16. Definitely. It doesn’t release more ponies as far as I’m aware but the engine feels a bit more fruity.

In TV terms it’s like switching from normal to UHD. I noticed it big time and I usually notice bugger all.

  17. Hhhmmmmmmmm

  18. Sadly I’ve no frame of reference as I never rode the bike before the Evo2 software. But the bike is phenomenal, had a day at snett yesterday and had about 4 slides on cold tarmac and a little too much throttle trying to get out of the corners a little too eager and the bike (whether the new software or not) just handles it. You don’t even have time to panic as the electronics have sorted it all out before you even think about the slide :joy:

had 100% suspension tweak the bikes suspension for me and thoroughly enjoyed the day with some fantastic wear on the V02’s :)

the software costs about £500 or just over. @nelly sorted mine out. When he explains how much the software changes on the bike it feels like it’s worth the money. World superbike electronics for the masses :grinning::upyeah:

  19. I think I heard there was another rev of the Evo2 software. Might have dreamt it though. Check it out...
