1260 Iconic Parts Winglets

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by meng, May 5, 2021.

  1. Had anyone tried the iconic parts winglets? Looks like most bikes now have this see v4 new bmw X-r etc to reduce wind flow

  2. I just received mine the other day. Plans are to install them today and go for a test ride. Will report with some pictures later on. It’s 8:31 in the morning here in NY btw.

  3. enjoy the ride !

  4. I beta tested the winglets ... they work very well. reduced wind buffeting considerably (subjective opinion).
Am waiting on a production set being sent to me, as I enjoyed the beta version so much.

  5. So after installing and test ride, I can confirm that there is less buffeting and the airflow is much smoother at speeds up to 85mph, which was the highest speed I achieved during my ride.

    Here are some variables:

-I have a Pikes Peak carbon screen
-My torso length is approximately 24"
-Shoei X-14 helmet with Sena 20S attached
    -Iconic windscreen extender adaptors

One thing I did notice is that my Barkbusters handguards touch the winglets at full lock. I may have a few more mm of lock without the guards. It should not be an issue without them otherwise.

  6. The winglets didn't fit my 1260 they touched the bodywork. Jamie said I needed to fit the black plastic either side of the winglet but they had only supplied 4 not 8 needed.
I removed them and have discarded them as they also look terrible next to a tinted screen.
I reported the quality of the finish of the top edge of the brace and was told he would have words with the laser cutters. I also had to source different length bolts as the ones supplied were too short. Have not been offered the missing parts or a replacement brace or a discount. At £170 I'm a little disappointed.

I do know this is a bespoke part but next to evotech parts the quality looks terrible. Maybe my experience is a one off.

I must say that the satnav mount and spacers seem to work well but again as they both are 3d printed without being finished (sanded or dipped in acetone) they look a little rough and the nuts fall out the back when trying to fit the screen.

On a positive note the satnat wobble is much better.
