Bet You Are All Wondering

  1. Forget Triumph. Now order is KTM Duke R, Ducati Supersport S, Aprilia RS660.

I did think of putting it to a vote but I don't GAF what anyone else thinks!

  2. Should be visiting Fowlups next week and they do KTM. I watched a MCN review of the KTM RC390 today. They reckon on it and it is fecking light. I know that I could manage it and that is my fall-back position. Still will need to get out and about to make a final decision on KTM, Aprilia, or another Ducati. Happy to get Triumph and BMW out of the picture just to make my choice simpler. As you would expect, Ducati is the most expensive choice with Aprilia the cheapest and KTM right in the middle. I keep wanting to say that if I get over some figure (100k,150k,200k) I'll buy two! But that is just stupid! I do stupid, though! Especially when it come down to motorbikes - lots of people tell me that I should never ever ride a motorbike again as they are too dangerous... But I do "dangerous"! I could sit at home for the rest of my life and read books. That is "safe" But not very exciting!

  3. And MCN think that Aprilia may do a "factory" version of the RS660 with flash suspension, wheels and a hotter motor. That could be interesting if that is around when I am in a position to buy. I've made an executive decision to re-equip myself with bike gear, before my compensation comes through. If I work that to time with getting my license back then I can just ride my Ducatis!

  4. Actually, forget the 'S'. The ducati option should just be the Supersort at £10,500. That doesn't make it mad money and is no longer the most expensive. I think that the KTM is!

So in price terms, the Aprilia is the cheapest, then Ducati and then KTM. On paper, they all have their own attractions. A good used one available at the dealer at the time that I am in a position to buy, could clinch it. I'd prefer a second-hand nearly new job or ex-demo if the price was right.

Or, I might buy new and stop trying to save the fecking World!

  5. And the place where I was working in 2015, that I've just spent two days trying to remember, was London Borough of Tower Hamlets!

Thank you all for helping me to remember - which you didn't!

Oh, and let us add Husqvarna to the list of possible bikes. I like to keep things simple and know I've got you interested!!!!

  8. Your body clock is working perfectly; you are waking up with the suns arrival. Its to ensure you aren't spotted and attacked by enemies who can see you whilst you're sleeping.

  10. I don't really want to buy new and I can have a clear conscience about polluting the World. I think that it will probably be KTM. This is at my nearest dealer, Frasers, about 15 miles away. I'm not ready to buy now with no driving license, no money and no kit - not even gloves! But when the time comes I can complete my circle with a KTM (first to last bike being KTM).

Having made the announcement then that pretty much guarantees that it won't be a KTM. Let me think. Now what do I think that there is no chance of me buying? Yes a Honda! So that is what it will probably be!

  11. Don’t buy a Honda. Go for the Super Sport. Bought mine second hand because it was well priced

  12. You could get a 1090 Adventure for the same monies...

  13. It will just depend on what's around when I am in a position to buy.

  14. If I buy new, which I may do, then the KTM is £9649 and the Supersport is £12,295. I may not have included "on the road" charges.

So, the Ducati is about £2600 more than the KTM. I'd have a hard job justifying that to myself.

I can get factory panniers for both (with the KTM's cheaper, of course) and so I could slim down my garage to just one "do everything" bike.

I know that Ducati like to come across as a "premium" brand but both have Brembos and both have Bosch electronics. The KTM has premium WP suspension, whereas the base model Supersport doesn't have anything premium.

Genrally, I don't carry pillions (I can't even be responsible for myself!) and I like the fact that the KTM doesn't bother with any pillion arrangements.

  15. I'm wrong and talking shat, as usual. The KTM Duke R is £10,649. All of about £1900 cheaper than the Ducati. This is KTM's premium model v. Ducati's base model. So, like the song, "The Song Remains The Same".

  16. If you buy a new Super Sport Ducati were offering a £1000 voucher to use on things like a touring pack, which is factory panniers, heated grips, tank and tail bags! Maybe that offer is still available?

  17. I'll keep an eye out, but a £1000 voucher wouldn't do it. The KTM would still be the cheaper option.

Even if it worked out that the bikes would cost the same money, it is not a forgone conclusion. The Ducati has the fairing, but the KTM has better suspension and is probably lighter. (I haven't checked).
