well,6 weeks after putting a deposit on a 2017 1200s it was delivered yesterday (don’t ask!!), went out for an hour or so while it was dry and played about between touring and sport modes, got home and set front pre-load as discussed in another thread. There didn’t seem to be any discussion in that thread on setting rear preload (I appreciate that changing modes adjusts pre-load) but surely it needs to have a correct starting point, or is there some clever system that measures sag and adjusts automatically? Thanks G
Thanks, yes I know, but the query i have is whether the initial sag needs to be set so it is a correct starting point for these settings to operate, or whether the bike is intelligent to set initial sag itself.
No it is not, you need to initially adjust the pre load to suit your weight. Thought the DVT had a remote manual adjuster for rear pre load. Andy
theres no initial "sag" setting, also the standard rear spring is very soft, if you are fairly lightweight (circa 11 stone ish) it will be fine, if like me your bones are heavier.....you'll need to up the numbers in the menu for the rear pre-load or even as I did get a custom spring made which is probably the best money I've spent on it
Wonder if you change the default does the the preset skyhook setting for luggage/pillion/pillion&luggage allow for what you’ve changed from default?
No, they are just settings in the menu, so if you up the "solo" setting from say 10 to 15 the pillion setting stays at 13 (or whatever it is) you need to work out and change accordingly
so if you go into your menu and look at the setting and the pre-load number for two no luggage then transfer that to solo, then go back and up the two people number by the difference you can have both settings back and easily swap between them
