Auxiliary Lights

  1. A question for the electricly minded members, if I was to buy a pair of D7 Denali auxiliary lights to replace my new style genuine lights on my 1260 would they work…… I would be cutting the Ducati plugs off my existing lights & solder them on to the Denali lights. So the question is…..

    1. would there be enough power in the line without using a Denali CAM system
    2. As for mounts were the pre-15 Multi’s lights brackets the same as the current models as they only do mounts for the pre -15 models

  2. Following for informed answers. My feeling is that if the lights are electrically identical then it'll work, but if they're not it'll throw some errors and not work.

  3. According to the Denali web site, the D7 unit draws 10amps on the brightest setting and as far as I have been able to find information on the Ducati OE auxiliary lights, it looks like they draw 2.5amps. That explains the brightness difference. Ducati wiring is 14 AWG and 16 AWG to the power take off plug so I would guess the extension loom to the light units is the same. I found a link that suggests the Denali needs 12 AWG wiring. Given the difference in current draw, that looks about right to a retired mechanical engineer who worked alongside electrical engineers for 40 years. Andy

  4. SO…… in idiot terms no, as the Ducati wiring will not supply enough power so the lights would not reach the brightness stated or would it be a case of over heating the wiring ???

  5. Full brightness would pull more current than the wire is designed for so could melt but certainly will get warm. Andy
