1299 1299 Doesn’t Start As Well After Service?

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by Luke_J, May 22, 2021.

  1. Hi all, just a quick one. My 1299 was in storage and I used to start it every 3-6 months and always fired up beautifully even when service was over due. It’s just had it’s 7.5k service and now it struggles to start even after 2 weeks with the battery nearly dying before firing. Any thoughts or similar experiences?
Genuine Ducati main dealer used for service.
    Many thanks

  3. Do you think could be just coincidence with the service then?

  6. Just after the service it was filled with ultimate, unless the trip wasn’t enough to run through all the old stuff.

Checked battery and it was at 11.9v prior to starting, ran at 13.4 so don’t know if that’s about right or abit low as suggested?

  8. One third fresh to two thirds old fuel should be sufficient to offset evaporation. The older the fuel the denser it gets and richer it will run.

If you've got a multimeter check the voltage drop on startup. That'll give you a definitive. It's worth putting the battery on an Optimate type trickle charger before you try again.

  9. Thanks guys appreciate the feedback. I’ve got a long trip in July so need to make sure she’s 100%. I’ll chuck a new battery in and see what happens! Thanks again and have a good weekend all.

  10. You need a good strong battery in the big v twins.

  13. I want to go lithium, but am I going mad or was there something about 1299’s having issues with them?

  14. Aren’t 1299 lithium standard?

Note, annoyed if not as I bought a converter for my car charger that does lithium! and moved everything around to make it fit

  17. Unless someone corrects me I think they are standard in the 1299S but not the standard 1299.

  18. Really appreciate the offer thank you but I think it’s just a tad too far from south Kent. Thanks again though.

  19. My 1299s came with a lead-acid battery...

  20. Hi Luke,

I had similar issues with my litium batery, it was in parameters but was struggling to fire up propperly, i decided to change it to a normal one, since then it fires straight away even after couple of weeks of not starting the bike,

    Hope this helps
