Amazon And Lies

  1. Anyone had this experience?

I ordered a couple of household items and they haven't turned up. I wasn't worried as I am in no hurry but shelling out for Amazon Prime means that stuff should come next day.

I happened to be on Amazon and they claim that the items have not only been delivered, but "handed to resident"!

This is not the first time.

I got on to their site and complained to customer service and they say that they will refund me - we shall see as I do not have 100% faith. I've cancelled my prime, anyway, as I've lost faith in Amazon and don't want to give them any more money. Just glad that I resisted all their urges to subscribe to Amazon Music coz that would have all gone down the drain as well. I am old-fashioned and like to buy, own, and control my music!

I ended up talking to some lady at Amazon who said the she would arrange refunds and some more driver training, although getting the driver to stop lying will be a challenge.

I know that Amazon treat their delivery drivers like dogs and bin any regulation about hours worked. There is a delivery centre in Bristol that is about 10 miles away and yet I have had stuff sent from Swindon ( about 50 miles away) with drivers turning up at 9pm after having started work at 6 am.

I think that Amazon's downfall may be the way that they treat their drivers like dogs. Well, actually, I used to treat my dog better!

  2. Sounds like the delivery driver made a mistake or the senders put the wrong address on your package.

I've never had a problem with Amazon, & I always order from the Prime section to get next day delivery. The returns policy where they send a barcode to your phone & the post office prints labels & doesn't charge is fantastic.

For £95 a year includes all deliveries and Prime TV. I think its cheaper if you pay in advance?

  3. I think that I was paying £7.99 per month and glad that I was paying monthly so I could cancel it cheaply. The TV was good, but Amazon just fecked me off. I don't mind being slow to deliver but it is the lying that I can't stand.

With anything, it is a major PIA if you are told that it has been delivered when it hasn't.

This Bank Holiday is not going well for me! First Amazon and then I find myself looking at kawasakis again!

I think that i am better, now! For two reasons - decided no Kawasaki and cancelled Prime!

  4. I just put in a bigger order with https://www.biggreensmile.com/.

I do wonder if there is a sensible way of showing Amazon that they miss out by having lying delivery drivers.

I've stopped wandering. That was a few seconds of my life wasted!

  5. And bikes.......

Got down to Aprilia RS660 v KTM Duke.

I will have a look at them both at the next tine that I am at Fowlers. I do favour the Aprilia with the Ducati Supersport next and the LTM duke last. The Duke R is best but I duuno if I want to spend the money. The Ducati Supersport is 2nd but I still think that it is too expensive. The Aprilia is top, but I need to see it in the flesh. I need to check how offensive the exhaust and swinging arm really are in real life. And then go to Riders to check out the Ducati.

Also, on bikes, what are people's views on ex-demonstrators?

My fear would be that they should of been run in properly, but, being demonstrators, have been thrashed from the off.

But are they really? And unless you take it to a track day, or something, can you really thrash a modern bike?

And if you buy anything used, then you never really know.

  6. I had a parcel 'delivered' whilst out. No idea where as they never left a card. They did come to the door as my ring doorbell recorded it, then went off in my neighbours direction. Contacted Amazon and they just sent another one. No questions, just said they'll send another and if I get the other to send it back.

  7. That is the great thing about RING devices. I know if anyone has been, as even when out, as everything is recorded. It has worked for me at least once when I KNOW stuff has not been delivered, even though the supplier saying it was.

Well worth it as now that there is so much more home delivery going on, I am finding that there is much more lying going on - don't get that with the Post Office!!!

My experience is that an ability to drive a van for 12 hours a day, greatly outweighs honesty, in the delivery game!

  8. And I did just check my RING cameras! The dumbo left the packages at my workshop door after walking straight past my front door!!! What a twat!

I've told Amazon and they have cancelled the refund but I told them that I'll stay with cancelling PRIME as I don't intend to use them again and free delivery is a waste of time.

What really bugged me was that the lying delivery driver had marked the packages as handed to resident. I knew that was a lie and didn't bother check any further. If the driver had been honest and said, "left by back door as I do not give a feck" then, I would of checked my cameras!

  9. I had similar a couple of years ago, can't remember if EBay or Amazon, but got refund and then someone on other side of road finally knocked on door and delivered the missing parcel! I told the seller (honest!!) and told me to keep it. Just remembered, that it happened at other address a few years back. It sounds as though i've been lucky (99% buyer only) but have had very few problems with either overall.

  10. I’m surprised Amazon didn’t check your camera footage tell you where he left it seeing as they own Ring ;)

although as you’ve said you’ll have nothing to do with them anymore I’m sure you’ve taken a hammer to it already

  11. I’ve recently had 2 occasions I’ve had to return stuff, the first within the 30day return policy, filed a return to Amazon locker, dropped it off and refunded my money within 30mins. The second my Cardo headset, started playing up last week when it got wet for the first time (supposed to be waterproof) coming up to a year old so tried dealing with the manufacturer first, which was proving to be a pita, so I contacted Amazon, “sorry it’s failed, no problem we will refund you, would you like to use RM or Hermes” code RM, packed it up, dropped it off at the post office and again within 30min my money was refunded.

  12. Didn't know that Amazon own RING and if I gave not a feck, but then I could of told them to look at the footage! I am not bothered. though. Amazon have got too big for their boots and I'll try to avoid using them again. I've cancelled PRIME. It is like when I cancelled my TV license - It just makes me feel clean!!!!

  13. You’ll get som many different answers on running in an engine, on Harry’s Garage (you tube) he’s having an old Alfa rebuilt and the guy rebuilding the engine said on that if it’s still running after 20 miles consider it run in !

  14. We have really nice Amazon drivers who deliver here.
They always leave my parcels safely if I miss them.
    Always polite too
I tell them I’m social distancing through the window and they wear their masks and don’t expect me to come to the door.

I have had other delivery company’s that won’t leave until I opened the door so they can see me taking the parcel in and take a photo

  15. I bought an ex demo. However, I ride mine on track. Can't really say if its a good or bad choice so far, but not mainly will be riding it like a TT race as you just can't on the roads. Main benefit was 1000 quid cheaper and it had it's first service. Negatives... Few minor paint blemishes where it hadn't really been polished, just a quick wash so needed some elbow grease to get it back to a good state. Mainly on the tank. Also found a scuff on a wheel, but I never looked at it before I bought and the Mrs took delivery so didn't spot it till a week later. Lived with it. Other issue might be reduced warranty period.

  16. Assign a safe place, I use a large yellow tub & drivers usually follow my instructions.

  17. It’s not only Amazon drivers, got home one day last week and found a Royal Mail card in the letter box. Must have been a doctor previously because the handwriting was barely decipherable. Finally twigged they’d put it behind my recycling bin and pushed the bin hard up against the house wall. Wasn’t valuable but my house fronts almost directly onto the pavement and I’m on the main walking route to the local comprehensive school with all those lovely thieving scrotes walking past the house twice a day. 18. In summary. Ordered on Prime, driver said delivered but wasn’t to you, Amazon, without challenge it seems, refund and say they will take action.
And you think that’s poor service?!

    Good luck with that Aprilia!

  19. I've found Amazon Customer Services very good. It seems that they are used to the madness of their doughball delivery drivers. Moan and they refund, like they are used to it!

You don't reckon on Aprilia, then? I haven't seen one in person yet, but Ducati and KTM rank above it and the Ducati is definitely the nicest to look at - although the cat needs dumping and exhausts will be replaced - not because I want it louder, but just better looking!

  20. Whenever I find myself railing against Amazon etc drivers I remember the conversation I had with one last year in which he told me that on an average day he usually has between 200 and 300 packages to deliver. Assuming an 8 hour day, that’s one every 2 minutes, not counting loading up or driving to and from the depot. I can’t imagine how stressful that must be
