Spitfires or F35’s ? Asking for the squadron....... I did ask the Mrs never to ask me to buy anything that requires towing and if I did of my own volition ponder or actually buy such things to humanely kill me, either whilst I slept or blindfolded with a bullet to the back of my head.
I’m sure the Apache trainees at Middle Wallop in Hampshire use the traffic on the A303 for target practice, used to work up that way and would often see them suddenly rise up from behind the hedgerows tracking vehicles along the road could have been even worse if that car had ruptured those gas bottles!
GS looked to be crown area of the road, giving visibility ahead of traffic and meaning escape left and right possible. Looked decent, positive rather than defensive, position on the road to me.
I had a tow bar fitted on Wednesday to tow my daughters horse box. That's even worse than towing a caravan...kill me now.
I believe I’m right in saying that you can add a tow bar to your car and strap on a caravan without any training ? Ie the vast number of bellends in this country who struggle to pilot a car safely on its own can attach (or attempt to) a second, more dangerous addition to their car without any training whatsoever ?
Depends when you were originally issued a licence and weight of caravan, generally though majority still hold automatic entitlement to tow without further need to be tested to a standard. https://www.gov.uk/towing-with-car
A coach or a minibus, my understanding was coaches needed a qualified PSV driver. AFAIK it’s a maximum of 8? Edit update oh dear https://assets.publishing.service.g...can-drive-using-your-car-or-lorry-licence.pdf
Yep. As long as for private use. Think horse box, large motor home, that stuff. But I could buy a coach, just use if ‘for friends’ and no hire or reward and be ok. Also wouldn’t need all the regular tests iirc (been a while since I was at AA around this stuff daily!)
Yep, my two sons who are in their 20's take great delight in telling me I have 'Grandad Rights' to tow anything and drive 7.5Tn(non articulated) trucks with my licence. Mind you, they've both had to ask me to hire a truck and drive it when they've wanted something moving. So both have said they are going to try and get some extra categories on their licences as soon as they can now. It would also be useful to share the driving if we are off to Devon towing the boat for a long weekend. Nasher.
Unfortunately I didn’t take my test til I was 27 and I missed out on C1 “grandfather” rights by 23 days, which means I’m limited to vehicles of less than 3.5t, which in my case limits the size of motorhome I’m allowed to drive. We are seriously considering going nomad but will need a bigger one (a bigger motorhome - stop sniggering at the back) if we’re going to be living in it more or less permanently. A year later I’m still waiting for a reply, much less a test date from the DVLA, yep, you’ve guessed it, bEc0Z oF cOvId
Years ago coming out of London a Range Rover towing a toilet block jackknifed and put the Range Rover on it's side. As luck would have it this was about twenty cars ahead of me, very messy.
