So loving the bike, gave it a good blast upto Loch Lomond, once home I gave the bike a light wash to remove the bugs etc. Put the bike into the garage and never thought anything more of it. Next day took the bike out and got red engine light on dash, bike was running very rough at idle and felt very hesitant below 3k. Started bike again but this time it wouldn’t even fire up, was cranking over but not catching. Bike came as an approved bike so comes with 12 months warranty and recovery. I’ve called Ducati Glasgow but are booking bikes in till end of august just now . Any ideas? Anyone rate the recovery service? Any replies appreciated
fist instance if you have an airline try to blow any residual water away from the electrical pugs under the seat (BBS unit) and also generally around the bike. I had issues with the BBS plug and condensation with my 1199, so try to keep water spray away from the electrics if you can, I resolved it by removing the BBS unit under the seat, and blowing out the plug sockets with compressed air and reseating them.
I'm currently getting the red fault light after i changed the battery. I did read turning ignition on off 4 times then starting again makes it go away. To which it has worked when i took the bike out for an mot. But it's not ideal i have no loss of power but bit concerning when you get the light flash up. I didn't wash the bike. only changed the battery and was fine before.
I find the best way to get rid of bugs is to soak a towel in water and leave it on the fairing for half an hour. They wipe off easy then
I have a similar approach. Sometimes I use baby wipes. Otherwise a rag soaked with GT85 or WD40 is usually used on metal parts. plastics get the same apart from the front fairing if it’s covered in bugs. I know people who jet wash their bikes! Which to me seems risky
