1200 All Day Riding

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by MrACD, Jun 4, 2021.

  1. Cycling shorts, job done. I did John o Groats to Lands End and back in under 5 days on a Cb1000r which def isn't made for comfort and I was fine even after over 11 hours in the saddle.

  2. Just cycling shorts no T shirt or flip flops? ;)

Spotted a R1 rider yesterday in shorts, t shirt and trainers riding down a by pass local to me. He be braver than me made me wince.

  3. I did a lot of the NC500 last September, it pissed down all day every day. Roads were very busy with camper vans, cyclist, hikers! This was the week after the kids went back to school, we thought it would be quieter, we were wrong. Still enjoyed it tho

  4. Cost effective option is an all in one waterproof (eg Richa all in one), be careful of the sizing to make sure when your hunched over on the bike it won’t pull up over your boots, luggage (Givi roll top bag) that will keep your other kit dry and make sure you have the ability to dry wet kit wherever your stopping overnight. You don’t need to spend a fortune, we did 6 hrs in torrential rain a couple of years ago and apart from a wet arse I survived pretty well. Oh yeh, and a spare pair of gloves....

  5. When I lived out in San Francisco, I would often go for a blast down south on my R1 (I know, but it was cheap and a good laugh). When ever I pulled up to a popular bike stop, I felt so out of place sometimes in full bike gear. Whilst the majority of the younger riders were literally in beach wear and you'd see them hooning it about like mad men. It's a shame, as clearly they've not come off yet but as we all know, it will happen as it always does. And it's going to be a VERY painful experience.

  6. Thanks everyone, fully noted and will get some gear to suit. Not feeling it lashing down all the time though! - I'd have thought Scotland would have been ok that time of year.... Never mind!!!!

  7. Had a blast over to Skye today, Aberdeen to Portree and back, 450 miles.
Typical weather, rain, sun, wind etc.....3 seasons in 1 day, sometimes we get all 4.
Good waterproof gear is a must.

  8. What cycling shorts do you wear? I’ve been looking at them since reading threads on here but they look a bit sweaty!

  9. Fuck sake, thought this was a thread on tantric sex or something….

  10. Try looking at the ones not being worn by sweaty cyclists:)

  11. If you want to be fleeced, get a set of MotoSkiveez. Otherwise just a set of Endura cycling padded shorts will do the trick. Just don’t get the cheap shite ones off Amazon.

  12. Cheers mate, I’ll take a look. Presumably you wear them without underwear? If so I’d better get 2 pairs for a weeks touring :joy:

  13. Yep, no underwear underneath. The good thing with the Endura is that the pad you sit on is black, rather than a light colour. I’ll say no more!
