I’ve searched here and generally across the web to find a switched power source for my Garmin SatNav on my Panigale R 2015. Various recommendations all seem to involve either breaking into wiring looms or T-ing off wires in the fuse box(es). The tails on these wires are very short, however. One suggestion was to pinch the GPS/DDA feed as it’s an option (not fitted on mine) but I could do with help finding that. On other Ducati models there’s been a blanked-off supply all ready to use. I suppose that doesn’t suit the profile of the R. Any ideas?
How is it not fitted, has someone sold all the bits off it in the past? That would be a shame. The unit can be seen in the lower section of the screen, and the plug goes directly into the back of it. Believe BSD have used power from this feed for some of their items, so it seems ok to T into the connections.
If I can get at that unit without dismantling the nose, I can unplug and tap into that. Thanks for the image showing me where it is.
Optimate do a lead from the plug in point where the charger attaches to a USB connection. I use this to power my camera. It's not switched so you just unplug it when not in use
An easier route will be to use my Skyrich charger plug (wired directly to the battery) when I need it, unplug it when home, just need the matching plug and fuse carrier. Not elegant but effective.
Its not an awkward job fella, but its handy to know where all the wee overlappy bits come into play. I see you are in Northumberland. I'm in Durham and could give you a hand over the summer at some point if thats any help.
