14t Front Sprocket

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Bonehead, Jun 14, 2021.

  1. My hyper 1100 has tall gears and I am considering a 14 tooth front sprockets. Is this is a common or worthy change for the better.

  2. Dropping 1 tooth on the front is probably the most common mod across a lot of models. Doesn't require any additional changes. Increasing teeth on the rear can sometimes require a longer chain. You won’t notice a huge difference but there is a difference. Andy

  3. I have a 14t on my M1100 (same motor as Hyper), no change to chain required. Makes a slight difference in town but not groundbreaking.

  4. I made this change to my M1100, and found it much smoother when pootling through 30 mph zones

  5. At the moment if feels like I’m pulling away in 2nd and hard work in traffic. There are JT sprockets on ebay so will give one of them a go.

  6. Are there any other tips to smooth the sub 4K Rev range. It is ok on an open road but awful in town etc.

  7. Standard exhaust fitted ? Andy

  8. I fitted the Termi with baffles but no remap, orberon slave and will order a JT 14T sprocket. A friend has the Tuneboy so might be able to remap if I can find a map to download.
