V4 V4s Progress

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by JoePeps, Jul 7, 2019.

  1. Quick trial fit tonight as I’m impatient. Will build it up properly this weekend ready for Cadwell on Tuesday next week but thought it was best in the office at work for a few days.

I bloody love it, something a bit different.

  6. All finished and tinkered with today. A few little last touches to sort:

    - carbon front fender been on order for 5 months, might finally arrive in April
    - carbon under tank cover to cover the last of the red, just trying to find someone who has stock
    - powder coat the mirror blanks black

Tucked up safe in the office again ready for Tuesday at Cadwell. Over the moon with it.

  7. You picked a good day to take it out. I've got snetterton on 5th and it's predicting rain with a possibility of snow!

Liking what you did with the bike :upyeah:

  8. Thanks mate.

Yeah looking pretty good thankfully, got 10 booked until mid July up to now so I’m sure they won’t ass be that good!

Im at Snett on the 4th! Fingers crossed it stays dry for us both!

  9. Weighed the bike at work the other day, CRC fairings with no front light, and 7L of fuel it came in at 193.5kg.

  10. Bet that is lighter than my V2... Mental! Was that with standard system on too?

  11. Yeah standard apart from the fairings mate. Even with brand new tyres and brake pads so I wasn’t cheating :joy:

  12. Looking fantastic

  13. So your first post states the Pani won't be as good as the BMW, what are your thoughts a couple of years later? Happy with your choice?

  14. It’s hard to say as I’m 10x the rider I was when I first bought this and other than 3 laps on an Aprilia I’ve got no track experience to compare too; other than my old S1000RR when I was a novice!

I do think I’d be noticeably quicker on a calmer new S1000RR, but I couldn’t imagine not riding this bike to be honest. There’s nothing out there that I’d prefer in anyway to this. I get off it slightly terrified but with a huge grin on my face. I’m no racer and not chasing every final tenth so I much prefer the drama this brings over a quicker lap time.

So in summary it’s worth every penny and more to me, and not a single regret!

  15. Also I’ve been keeping tabs of how much this thing has been costing me since it’s been nearly 2 years since I collected it.

So every cost covering modifications, servicing, brakes, tyres, parts, trackdays, insurance, monthly payments and deposit, anything I’ve spent either on it or to ride it.
5k miles and roughly 32 trackdays comes to just about £28k!!!!

Would I change anything? Yep. Wish I hadn’t got it on finance and used more savings and a loan instead, and wish I’d booked more trackdays!

  16. Did a bit of work on the bike this weekend:

    - oil & filter
    - pads, think I got the best of the old ones!
    - decent clean, amazing how dirty trackdays get
    - tidy up the exhaust covers and swap for some stainless fasteners

Now on 5547 miles and love every minute of it! Starting to line up some jobs for over winter too, chain and sprockets, bit of powder coating etc.

  19. So that’s another year of trackdays over and done with since a last minute Donington a few weeks ago, lovely open pit lane with only 35 bikes there meant loads of space and track time!

Managed 21 days in the UK with barely any sessions missed to either weather or riding which is pretty mental to think! Donington, Cadwell, Oulton, Snetterton, Anglesey and Silverstone is a decent spread of tracks. Will definitely do Brands next year too.
Average day cost including every penny spent is £324 a day, still don’t understand how people spend £600+ unless they are throwing away perfectly good tyres and eating a lot of fillet steak!

I’m now comfortably in the top half of most Advanced groups doing decent safe times so I’m happy with the progression this year, won’t be as big a jump next year I’m sure but I’ve got a few targets to try and hit if I can.

Bike has performed faultlessly again, now on about 6500 miles in 2.5 years, just needing a new clutch pack as that was well and truly goosed. Swapped out by Nelly at Cornerspeed, bike will definitely be going back there if it needs anything else.

I was very close to buying a new one and had a deposit down on a 2021 but with some work issues I couldn’t justify the extra money and I’m quite glad now as mine is proving reliable so seems a bit silly to jump to something I don’t know, after hearing of quite a few issues with other V4’s.

Bloody love it, can’t imagine riding anything else. Looking forward to a decent strip down and a damn good clean over winter, roll on next year.

  20. Great effort. You did much better than me!

Work commitments and the ongoing plandemic have scuppered my track day fun. Just saw your brake pads picture in the previous thread….. eeeeek, don’t let them go that far. :):upyeah:
