As ever having googled the Pirelli sports range I need to have a lie down. But I think I've got it, i.e.: Supercorsa = mostly track Diablo Rosso Corsa II = road / track Diablo Rosso IV = mostly road I've previously had Rosso Corsas on my 998 but it doesn't go near a track (except for being serviced at Baines ...), and I wonder whether the Rosso IV is a more sensible road choice at an imminent change. It's a low-mileage bike so I'm not worried about tyre life, just best fast road handling. Would appreciate hearing anyone's experiences.

I've got the Rosso IV on my 848 and they work really well on the road in real world conditions, but then I don't tend to ride it like I stole it these days. I wanted something with a little more ability to disperse water than the SuperCorsas that were on there before as I use it in Spring / Autumn and didn't like the Corsas in the wet. I've put Rosso Corsa II on the Hypermotard as I don't buy into the track tyre on the road, it doesn't retain heat and cools down really quickly at normal speeds (i.e. urban riding). I've found them every bit as good as the SuperCorsas for the type of riding I do and I;ve never thought that they lack grip.
Rosso Corse 2’s on my Pani R and also have used in anger on my 996 and Daytona on track days. Good tyres and more than adequate for road riding and the occasional track day.
Diablo Rosso Corsa II on my 998. Changed this season and working very well even on the early morning cooler roads.
When I got my 1299 it came on the older Rosso 3. Nice tyre, good feedback, great warm up and more than enough for the road but as expected struggled on track the second part of my second day as my pace increased (novice day one, inters day 2). Rosso Corsa 2 on for this year and it's a huge difference. Brilliant front end and overall balance, very confidence inspiring at lean, again great warm up and did great on track. The rear was getting a little squirrelly later in the day but looking back I think I needed to drop the pressure a touch as my pace had again increased, top of inters and advised to move up to advanced
