Bmw S1000rr Gone -panigale On The Way!

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by Wilko69, Aug 22, 2021.

  1. Well I sold my 2020 BMW S1000rr yesterday and went up the road and bought a Panigale V4s from Moto Rapido in Winchester. It’s my first Ducati so a little nervous/apprehensive but really looking forward to it. They have told me down there that the bike I have purchased is a ‘gen3’? I knew that there was a second generation but a third??? Anyway, I digress. I’m looking forward to being on this forum and learning from you guys on how to keep my bike in tip top condition.

  2. What was wrong with BMW ?

  3. Welcome to the forum.:)

  4. I found it a little boring to ride. A fantastic bike but a little lacking in soul - if that makes sense?

  5. You thought a S1000RR was boring over 10k revs?

  6. Welcome to forum...and if i had the choice between a Beemer and a V4S in my garage i know which one i'd go for!;)

Enjoy the forum and Ducati ownership, once bitten forever hooked.

  7. I guess soul is different for everyone. I have both, and enjoy both of them

  8. I bought a brand new S1000RR for £11200 in 2013. There wasn't a road bike that could get near it at the time. And when I was talking to the manager of a Ducati dealership earlier this year, he admitted the latest S1000RR would lap faster than V4S. Though If you're talking about the whole ownership experience, sure the Ducati has it.

  9. Welcome and enjoy

  10. I’m going to go for an S1000RR next year I think, as much as I love my V4S it will be 3 years old and I think the BMW will be a better trackbike.

Certainly won’t have the excitement or drama of the Duc, but also doesn’t have the price tag either.

  11. In the high speed stakes i would guess the BM has the V4s bang to rights, but for me its not all about speed and lap times - in the context of the whole ownership and 'specialness' feelgood factor it would be the Duc for me.:D

  12. I don’t do track days and mainly ride out with the Mrs who has her own bike. Sure, above 10,000 rpm the BMW is manic, however, in the real world, through the twisties etc. I don’t often see the bike over 10,000 rpm so for me, yes the Panigale was the better bike. The noise, the way the bike handles, and of course the aesthetics all have a greater appeal to me than the BMW. I am sure I won’t be disappointed with my purchase.

  13. How often have you had an s1000rr over 10k?

  14. If we are talking speed the V4 will have every inch of pace the RR has IMO. Every race and YouTube video will say the same. Handling is simply a question of set up, and the electronic system in Ducati is had and shoulders above any other.

    Enjoy the bike :upyeah:

  15. Wouldn’t agree with the speed thing, I’ve not been able to reel in gen4 BMWs on my V4, whereas most other bikes it seems to comfortably pull on provided they’re standard ish as mine is.

  16. welcome dude, enjoy the v4

  17. If that was directed at me, every bleedin time i went out on it, big nose.

  18. I don't think Bradders has read about how fast you are on the road!
