Hello there, fitted a new starter to the 900ssie (1999). Now clutch not working. The plates move and are free, no drive when lever released in gear as it seems rod not retracting enough to compress plates. Removing slave cyl no help as basket does not close up??? Is there a lip to push the pushrod seal past??
reading between the lines and looking at your pic, it looks as though plates and pressure plate not being allowed to "settle" fully home - if you stripped off the pressure plate, did you align the notched spring post with the arrow on pressure plate (see my pic) on re-assembly?
Hi chris, ta for reply, clutch was working fine until I did starter motor, I only had slave cyl off at other side. I fired it up and tried gears as you do and found no drive so pulled cover off and found it like this.
I'd slacken off the 3 bolts on the slave and see if the pressure plate moves in. That'll at least prove that the push rod hasn't jammed. Then whip the slave off and inspect the piston. Maybe you've trapped the rubber gaitor. Did you remove the push rod? I once had a needle bearing fall to bits and notch the push rod, causing it to stick.
