E10 Fuel From September

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by duke63, Feb 25, 2021.

  1. I wouldn't dare put E10 in my Ducati, but my BMW r1200r, whilst it will run on it, just doesn't like it as much. The engine sounds a tiny bit rougher, and it's slower to start.
I'll avoid it if at all possible, and if no choice, I put a fiver in to get me to another station.

  2. @HootOwl mentioned in post 5 back in February what additive can be used and i have now got a bottle on order, then read/learn what's the best way to use,
As Hootowl mentioned a cap full for each tank full and i will make sure i have some in the tank over winter when the bike is used less,

  3. I bought 3 bottles but I've not needed to use it yet as I've always managed to get premium bar once, and that was on the beemer.

  4. The problem with premium fuels available at the pump, is that many are now E5, including some versions of the Esso Synergy Supreme Plus, depending on where it is sourced. Previously it was all free of Ethanol.

Also, Avgas contains tetraethyl lead, as in the link below, but if that's not a problem it might be an option for overwintering.

The link below is to a brand of Ethanol free fuel that is available, but not from a forecourt, although it could be suitable for overwintering. Also, a fuel stabiliser could be added to the tank just to be sure, perhaps Sta bil, Sea Foam or Lucas Safeguard, and then keep it topped-up.
I contacted the fuel producer and they confirmed it should remain stable for up to 3 years.

    I hope this helps.

  5. Do you take the bottle out with you or a small amount in a container of some sort,
Better watch what we post as there could be panic buying :D

  6. I haven't used it yet, and hopefully won't need to as the only station I use for the Duke still has premium, so I don't know.
I can't see myself carrying a bottle around the place to put in my imaginary petrol anyhow.
