999 Bloody Relay !!!!

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by chrisw, Jun 11, 2021.

  1. Came to start the bike this morning and found that the fuel pump was not priming and I had the immo EOBD fault code.

Fortunately I had moved the coil/injector/pump relay to the top of the battery box.

The relay was hot and was not latching on ignition on.

So, following my own advice I fitted a brand new relay (from my spares supply).

Ignition on, fuel pump primes, bike starts and EOBD light clears.

  2. Can anyone advise a part number/power rating or whatever I need so I can get a spare ready. TIA.

  3. Crikey, that was quick. Many thanks.

  4. I have a 749, have this info on standby, it comes up fairly regularly for the 749/999 bikes as the relays positioning is problematic for it’s longevity. If you’re stranded the headlight relay is the same.

  5. Where is this fuel pump relay ?

  6. Relay is mounted behind the battery box in a most ridiculous location.
You may be lucky that a previous owner has relocated it to a much more sensible position at the front upper area of the battery box (where Ducati have thoughtfully already provided a nice square rubber locating grommet, almost as though that is where the relay ought to be!)
